The full moon lunar eclipse of December 21, 2010 highlights the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, which brings in the themes of communication, education, higher thought, intelligence and the more negative energies of fanaticism, arrogance, overindulgence, rationalization, duplicity and amorality.
Because the Moon and the Sun are both at the all-important 29 degrees of their respective signs (Moon 29Gemini20 and Sun 29Sagittarius20) an urgent message of change is part of the mix. Any planet or light at 29 degrees of a sign brings endings and change. Something has matured and is no longer needed. It is time to transform something or to end it and to build something new. However, it is wise to be aware that a planet at 29 degrees can cause a person to waiver, to go back and forth and to evaluate and re-evaluate endlessly, until finally, exhausted with the decision making process, that person may just make a rash and hasty decision to change things without using rational thought.
Then too, all eclipses bring in a time of change, a time to correct our course and move forward in a new or altered way toward our goals. This lunar eclipse asks us to take a long, hard look at the issues in our life that are holding us back or that are keeping us from fulfilling our destiny and to make decisions about a more positive, life-affirming way of meeting those challenges.
This particular lunar eclipse becomes even more powerful because of its location near the galactic center at 26 degrees Sagittarius. (See my previous article on Pluto when it was located at the Galactic center before entering Capricorn.) The lunar eclipse location near the powerful Galactic center magnifies and adds power and focus to the energies already being manifested.
It is also noteworthy that the eclipse opposition of the Moon and Sun are square the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Because Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, the sign that holds the Sun during this eclipse, the themes of compassion (Pisces) and truth (Jupiter) are very much in focus. Uranus brings unexpected change like a lightning bolt and new ways of thinking and acting.
In short, this lunar eclipse brings an unprecedented opportunity to bring about a new way of being with regard to others with whom we share Mother Earth. We are called to act in a higher, more authentic way (Jupiter) and to keep our mind on the oneness of all beings (Pisces). Indeed, in light of the world situation at this time, this lunar eclipse presents an opportune time for each of us to focus on this spirit of oneness with all others.

I am feeling the affects of this upcoming eclipse 1st/7th houses 11 degrees Gemini rising – my 4th/10 houses 29 degrees. Alot has been going on re job applications. I accepted a job with a previous employer only to uncover alot of unacceptable dealings have been going on to which I felt the need to share with those who had previous negative dealings with these people – Karma. I turned down another job offered to me but I am waiting to hear about another one and hopefully be offered a job with that company. Surprisingly I did hear from them this morning but the job offered doesn’t suit. They said they would keep my resume when my preferred position arises. Tania, I don’t really feel the eclipse is causing the difficulty, but it is certainly highlighting it. On February 6, 2011, Jupiter does go into your 10th house indicating favorable energy around career. Of course, that could be the potential job or another one that comes up. On the other hand, transiting Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius are in your 9th house of higher learning; as are Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Do some soul searching to determine what your motivationsk are for becoming a mental health or youth support worker. There are some indications that it would fulfill a yearning in you to make a difference. If that is so, also determine why. Is it to heal yourself (very likely) or to serve in a very connected way (also very likely). Hopefully, the answers will help you make a choice.

I was born at 11pm, Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Feb. 28, 1970. Diana, Yes the eclipse Gemini Moon is in your 12th house but is so close to the cusp that it ties the 12th house and the 1st house together. The story it tells is to bring something that you know from the past and use it in your self expression, in your work and in your relationships (from the polarity of transiting Sun and Mercury in the 6th on the cusp of the 7th house. Is there something you have always wanted to write or say but haven’t? Note that your Pisces 10th house of career and public standing with Uranus and Jupiter in it is conjunct your natal Chiron and all are squaring the eclipse. Now would be a good time to expand (Jupiter) in an inventive (Uranus) way and disregard your fears (Chiron) in the career/public arena.

Saturn in capicorn in the 8th house. It feels like this is going to have a very powerful affect on me. I just had 6 teeth pulled on December 6th getting for braces and it’s been quite a painful ordeal, but the beginning of a great new smile. Since 2006 and 2007 were very difficult years for me I was extremely sick and still deal with the issues today. But this plantery issues coming up seem to but huge changes especially with the eclipse right on top of my natal sun and Venice Especially with Sun and venus opposition jupiter. Money, insurance death and taxes then relataionships issues? I can’t quite put it together. Thomas, The thing that struck me about your chart was that wonderful Sun/Venus conjunction. Having your teeth worked on will give you the confidence to really let that beautiful conjunction express itself. Remember the 2nd house is all about our values, not just money. Pluto was at 21 Sagittarius in June 2007, so that explains the difficult time you had during 2006 and 2007. Your entire self expression was curtailed as though someone or something had a big foot on you. By the way transiting Saturn at 16 degrees Libra is square your natal Saturn at 16 degrees Capricorn. Saturn rules the teeth and bones. What a great time to take care of your teeth!

Beth, the eclipse does touch your 10th and 4th houses. However, did you notice that the eclipse is in an applying conjunction with your natal Jupiter in the 10th, which could be a sort of “angel on your shoulder” aspect. In some ways, it seems like your current job has lost its usefulness and it is time for you to go in a new direction. Have you considered that? Transiting Saturn is conjuncting your Sun in the 2nd house. If you have been applying yourself diligently you could be rewarded. If not, it could, indeed, bring a loss of income. Make sure you are applying yourself in all ways and to your fullest potential and you should be fine. Good luck.

Daineko, I am so sorry for your losses. I do think that the worst is over. The Dec 21, 2010 eclipse falls in conjunction to your natal Mercury and opposes your natal Moon. It will be helpful to express your feelings regarding what has happened and to not be afraid to also express emotions. The eclipse actually feels to me like it has a little healing energy in it for you. As the Sun moves through Sagittarius and into Capricorn you will need to deal with some financial aspects of the deaths, but I feel you are given the strength to do. Blessings.

Esra – The eclipse (and the Sun prior to the eclipse) will be conjunct your natal stellium of Uranus, S Node, Jupiter, Sun and Neptune all in the third house of communications. It will oppose your 9th house of higher mind and learning and your tenth house. This could point to lots and lots of communication, learning, teaching, philosophizing, etc. with a possible career component to it. The energy generally looks quite good as long as you do not cling to old, outworn ways of doing things. This concentration of energy (and the South Node) calls for letting go of that which doesn’t work to let in a very expansive new way of thinking, communicating and being. Enjoy!

Kate – no it is not all gloom and doom. I wanted to write another article to let people know that, but have been overwhelmed with comments so have not found the time. Eclipses are change and a focus of energy pure and simple. In can bring gloom and doom if certain aspects are present in the natal chart, but it can also bring much needed and even appreciated change. Even gloom and doom has a positive side if you look for it. The eclipse is falling in your 5th 11th house axis. Your attention should be drawn to creativity and how to express that in your career, groups and even as a part of your hopes and wises. Yes, trines are generally, but not always, easy energy. In doing this kind of quickie reading I usually don’t even look at the trines, because the big stuff will happen on the conjunctions, squares and oppositions. It is very good to use trines. They sort of “grease the wheels” and make the journey easier. The biggest thing to remember with the easy aspects that they do not compel us to take action like the hard energy. Therefore we need to consciously supply the action to get the most benefit from them.

Mona – You must have been born really far north in Norway because your chart is widely intercepted. Anyway, back to the eclipse – it doesn’t seem to be affecting your career greatly. The eclipse falls in your first house of self expression conjunct your Capricorn Sun and opposes your Gemini Moon in your 7th. The main thing is that you will be inspired to put more emphasis on your self expression and to step out in the world in a more businesslike, confidant way. This may have some impact on your relationships, but the key with the Moon in the 7th in Gemini is to be sure you communicate what is going on with to you to those who matter to you. Otherwise, they may wonder and question, etc. The Capricorn eclipse may put even more emphasis on that dynamic. Jacqueline, the eclipse chart compared to your natal chart shows a tremendous emphasis on your home. Something special seems to be going on there. A wild guess would be that you will possibly quit your job if you are now working and maybe work out of your home or beautify your home in some way. There is also some emphasis on your 1st house/7th house axis, which would be changes in how you show yourself to the world and the effect that any close relationships have on that and vice versa. Nothing looks alarming. You will need to take control of matters at home in some way though.

Hello Sabrina, One thing I do know without a doubt for any of us to be happy in life we must honor our Moon, its sign and placement etc. Your Moon in Sagittarius does point to a certain need for freedom of action and a need to philosophically make a difference in the world. Your businesslike Capricorn ascendant points you in the way of business, but that is very empty if it doesn’t feed and satisfy the Moon. You have Saturn transiting your 4th house North Node/Pluto conjunction, which would indicate someone in your family putting a lot of pressure on you. Olivia, I couldn’t find my previous message to you. I am very sorry for the mixup. Anyway, the Gemini eclipse falls in your 10th and 4th house axis. Also transiting your 4th house are Mercury, N Node Pluto and Mars. For sure, something is going on with your career versus your home. Notice how the transiting stellium is moving into your 5th house as the Capricorn eclipse approaches. Then on the 14th or so of January they touch your Neptune/Uranus in the 5th house. Your creativity could go through the roof at that time. Don’t be afraid to be a little out there with the creativity since we are talking about the energy of Neptune and Uranus being highlighted. KJL, the eclipse falls on the cusp of your 11th/5th house axis and squares your 2nd and 8ith house. It is not directly aspecting any of your planets, so it probably will not have a major impact. You can get a clue about it by reading an astrology book about the impact of the sun and moon transiting those houses. Then add a little emphasis because both are transiting there.

Sally, you do have significant contacts from the two eclipse, so it is no wonder you are feeling that something is happening but don’t know what it is. It is significant that the first eclipse falls in your 12th house with the transiting Sun almost exactly on the cusp of the first house. It is an indication of letting yourself shine more. Your natal sun and Moon in the 12th house natally were always someone subdued or held back. The eclipse is shouting for you to claim your personal power (note transiting N Node and Pluto in your 1st house and transiting Mars conjunct Jupiter). As they move through your first they will, of course, connect with natal Saturn so that energy will need to be tempered a little, which will probably come naturally. Transiting eclipse Moon in Gemini in the 7th wants you to only involve yourself in those relationships that really feed and nurture you. You are also having a Chiron return this year. That is a whole subject in itself. But time to quit licking old wounds and heal yourself and thus others. Mary Ann, You may wish to start packing. The planets aspecting your chart leading up to the lunar eclipse go over your natal Chiron at 26 degrees Sag and square your North and South Nodes. Some kind of healing in satisfaction of your North Node in Pisces is being activated. It is an ideal time to contribute your efforts toward planetary change.
The big news is the Capricorn solar eclipse. It conjuncts your Mercury and Sun conjunction in the 10th house (very nice) and opposes your Uranus in the 4th house and square your nodal axis. When Uranus in the 4th is significantly aspected it very often points to a move!

Hello Ann, regarding Jacqueline’s reading – sometimes things just show up in my thoughts that seem a little too much at the time, but they turn out to be right on. That was one of those times.
Regarding your chart, the full moon eclipse falls in your 9th house (philosophy, higher education, higher mind, religion, etc.) and your 3th house (communication, short trips, siblings), but there are no planets in those houses. It does square your Pluto/Uranus Virgo conjunction in the 12th and your Chiron in Pisces in the 6th. I would interpret that as a sudden uncovering of something from the past that you are able to analyze and arrive at a healing from it. It may not be pleasant, but could change your life for the better.
The Capricorn solar eclipse conjuncts Mars in your 4th house and opposes your 10th house. It also squares your Libra ascendant and your Aries descendant. The transiting planets between now and sometime after the January solar eclipse may very well be going over your 10th house of career, which would point to a big change in your career prospects. In any case all of those planets in Capricorn will be a help in furthering your career goals (Capricorn rules business and government). It shows the need to be somewhat aggressive and bold in your search for the right position. In other words hold your head up high and have the attitude that you can deliver what the job takes. This was really interesting. I am Aquarius with Libra Rising and Leo Moon. I was born in Dimboola, Victoria, Australia on the 22 Jan 1962 at about 11:11pm (My mother assures me it was “around” this time – give or take 10 mins either side. I just picked 11:11 because its kinda cool :)).
I know the coming eclipse is affecting my 5th house and I’ve been knotted in the tummy for weeks over how I’m going to afford everything. With my eldest wanting to head off to uni next year; no settlement from the break up of marriage 2.5 years ago still; a massive bill for the servicing of my “new” car I bought in August this year… I am really feeling the financial strain and it’s killing me! I hate not being generous with others at Christmas time!
Anyway… money issues aside, I’m meeting a new man for our first date on Sunday 19th. He’s a Pisces and that’s all I know. I don’t want to have any expectations. Somehow in my heart of hearts, I know this is going to be one of those fun “something” kind of friendships for awhile – I think! I wonder if this eclipse will prove differently?

Romance if favored, though I don’t know if it is the current date. The best time to find love is when the Sun is in Aquarius. Your 5th house is highlighted then.

Debi, the Capricorn solar eclipse falls in your 3rd house of communications, siblings and short trips and squares Pluto in Libra in your 12th house of hidden matters and self undoing and also square Venus in your 7th house of relationships. The square to Pluto is quite significant and important. Not easy, but it is time to dig out all the skeletons in your emotional closet and once again attempt to get rid of them. Carina, neither the lunar or solar eclipse make a close aspect to your natal planets. The lunar eclipse falls in your 12th/6th houses. However, around January 11, 2011 the Sun will be conjuncting your Venus/Mercury conjunction in Capricorn and squaring your Jupiter and Chiron conjunction in Aries in the 3rd house. As a Sag, I am pretty optimistic by nature but after years of planets squaring and conjuncting my sun in transit, there isn’t much in my life that hasn’t been completely destroyed (pluto conjunct sun for 1.5 years was a nasty battle). I used to be the happiest person ever and very lucky but over the past six months life has been so bad from every angle that I barely have left my house, except to go to yoga class.

Kate, I can see that things have been rough for you for quite some time. Not only is Pluto conjunct your Sun but transiting Saturn is conjunct your natal Pluto in the 3rd house. That would indicate that you have some skills and talents that you could teach to others. Even teaching something you know (and even better something you love) to someone else no matter how small the scale would be a great place to start. After the solar eclipse on January 4, the transiting planets will be entering your 6th house of work and service. Often when we feel the most stuck is when reaching out to someone else to help them will do wonders for us. Your Sun is in your house of creativity and there are lots of planets there now. Even Pluto can be of help. Doing something creative each and every day would also be a great place to start. Creativity doesn’t need to mean art, dance, music etc. Anything that you do that is done in a slightly different way than it has been done before is creative. Cath, yes the lunar eclipse is conjunct your north node in Sag in the 12th house and opposing the south node in Virgo in the 6th. It is time to let go of your rather happy go lucky or flightly ways when it comes to your gifts of communication (SN in Sag). We are each meant to move towards our North Node. So in your case, it is time to really use your communication gifts in your work life or in some sort of service to others. It always feels uncomfortable to use your North Node, but it is a key to fulfilling our destiny. The eclipse says “now is the time.”

So with the 29 degrees you have now given up something (your job) However, the January 4 solar eclipse (new beginnings) is in your 2nd house of money along with Mars. They are all moving to conjunct your Saturn and Jupiter. I definitely think you can get another job. Saturn there says that you will need to work very hard at hunting, but Jupiter is like a reward. You could well have a job offer around the 14th of January if you are really out there working at finding a job.

I recently read about the Galactic Center. I didn’t have a clue about its existence and meaning. And now, i read this. If you have any other information to share, i would be grateful to have. I am an 26 degree Sagittarius ascendant, so it tickled my curiosity and concern.
So, this lunar eclipse is in conjunction with my ASC. The next solar eclipse is in conjunction with my natal Moon on 12′ 50 Capricorn.
I have as well, transiting Pluto square my Sun, and Saturn in conjunction with my MC.
In the late years, after Pluto transiting my Asc and keeps on my first House, conjuncting my H1 Neptune, squaring my Sun etc. my life has changed dramatically. And i am better and stronger in every area of my life. I have come in touch with healing procedures and have discovered, or i’d better say revealed a new way to view life and overcome my problems. Now, with the transits of Saturn, despite the practical difficulties, i feel step on the ground(as a Neptunian, i didn’t before).
What else will change? Because with these two eclipses, i freak out a little bit… 😛

Armaan, first off, let me say that you are an inspiration. If everyone that is going through hard times could just understand that we all do come out at a better place once we make it through the dark. With Pluto transiting your first house you are to learn power (not too much, not too little) and how to stand up for yourself and just have that confidence when you walk into a room that you know who you are without pretense. Because you have worked on yourself so much, I would say that the thing you need to let go of (lunar eclipse) is your old way of appearing to others. The solar eclipse on your natal moon is very significant. I get the sense that you are stepping out into the business world in a big way. If not, then it is just the sense that you know how to navigate in the world and how to take care of yourself. Your chart is all about self power now. It’s about time isn’t it.
As to the galactic center, I see Pluto’s long stay there and now this eclipse on the galactic center as showing that we really are citizens of the universe and that we need to be more in tune with earth changes and celestial changes. How do you see it?

You have a very lovely Jupiter/Moon conjunction in your natal chart sextile Venus in Pisces and also sextile Saturn in Scorpio in your 11th house of hopes and wishes. The solar eclipse will be activating all of that lovely energy. If I were you I would spend some time at the solar eclipse to envision what I wanted this year, put a lot of emotion behind it, and expect it to come true.

Betsy, I can’t tell what is going on with just your Sun sign. There may be some changes in the area of the chart where your natal Sun falls. However, anything that leaves or changes needed to do that to make room for the new. Remember, the Capricorn solar eclipse is all about new things coming in.

Gigi, the lunar eclipse does not significantly impact your chart. I believe that work matters and/or career matters will greatly pick up around the 8th of January after the solar eclipse. Several planets move into your 6th house putting a nice emphasis on such matters.

Hello, thank you for your words on the full moon lunar eclipse. I’ve been waiting for this particular eclipse since the partial lunar and solar eclipses of the summer that formed a grand cardinal cross. This has not been the easiest 6 months since (and there have certainly been a lot of transits and progressions taking place). I’m concerned this one might be a doozy, but hopefully in a good way. My sun is gemini in the 6th house, moon in pisces in the 2nd house, ascendant in sagittarius (also both my saturn and uranus are sagittarius in the 12th house and my jupiter is in aries in the 4th house – which will be making a natal return in 2011).
I just wanted to know if you had any thoughts on this for me. Thank you so much!!!
Heather, first off, the summer eclipses were much worse for many people because they tied into the cardinal cross that was in effect in the sky. The Gemini, Pisces and Sagittarius planets/points that will be aspected by the eclipse will be those closest to 29 degrees of each sign. That is for Gemini 23 or so Gemini to 5 or so Cancer. The other planets will be affected but it may come earlier or later than the eclipse. In any case a time of change for you. Dust off your writing and communication talents (Sun in 6th in Gemini), ground your Pisces moon when it comes to money matters (or write about Piscean things or work in a Piscean type environment), and project yourself like a Saggitarius (Sag ascendant).

Pam, the eclipse falls in your 4th/10th house axis. Because there are no planets there within orb in your natal chart it will have minimal impact in those areas. It also squares your 1st house Moon in Virgo and and transiting Uranus/Neptune in the 7th house. There could be possible surprises in a close relationship that will need to be worked out. With Moon in Virgo being highlighted, try not to over analyze any such change.

KC, I’m glad you enjoyed the article. I suspect that their are two reasons why you have been feeling so exhausted. The transiting planets (including the eclipse) are aspecting your 12th house Neptune and South Node. I would think that it feels like a very confusing time for you and you may be having vivid dreams and psychic insights. The second is that transiting Pluto is also in your 12th house within 8 degrees of your ascendant. Lots and lots of stuff from the past (and past lives if you so believe) is coming up for review now in your psyche. This can all be soul wrenching and challenging. Your best bet, is to spend more time nurturing yourself (natal N Node in Cancer). Also indicated are that financial affairs are somewhat nebulous (transiting Neptune) and wounding to you in some way (Chiron transiting). It is a good time to not only nurture yourself, but to also become more attuned to your spiritual self (however that looks to you) as you have Saturn transiting your 9th house planets. Just remember that as long as we keep a positive faith, trying times make us stronger and happier in the end. Good luck.
