This month the focus is on the sign of Cancer until July 22nd when the Sun moves into the sign of Leo. The sign of Cancer is about nurturing and love, including self-love. Our family is the focus when the Sun is in Cancer, but as noted above, our family is not limited to our family of birth, but includes friends and soul connections of all kinds.
So, as we go through the month and encounter testy, challenging connections like Mars square Pluto that is strong around July 1, let’s all remember our connections to family, friends, animals and anyone or anything else we really care about. Such connections (Gemini) are the balm that helps us make the best of whatever life throws at us.
On another note, I found this little gem from my favorite financial astrologer, Raymond Merriman: “Neptune turned retrograde and the Sun squared Jupiter both on June 28, which can indicate reversals in crude oil prices.” Of course, as he pointed out, Jupiter and Neptune together can bring irrational euphoria. As I see it, an extra dose of optimism (Jupiter) is just what the doctor ordered in these erratic (Uranus) times. Enjoy the month of July.
July 1: Mars Square Pluto at 27-28 Degrees Aries/Capricorn. Mars square Pluto gives you a lot of personal energy and push for achievement that can bring positive results. The deep downside of this aspect is the out-of-control assertion of power, buried rage coming out into the open and a ruthless and competitive mindset. Mars square Pluto is very much connected to sexual matters. It is no wonder that the stunning Supreme Court decision regarding Roe vs. Wade came down as Mars was applying to Pluto. We should all be careful not to exhibit an impulsive, hateful reaction, but instead to use the literally “superhuman” power denoted by Mars square Pluto to work towards a more humane and just outcome.
July 2: Mercury Trine Saturn at 24-25 Degrees Gemini/Aquarius; Mercury Square Neptune at 24-25 Degrees Gemini/Pisces. This is such an interesting mix of energies. Mercury trine Saturn brings concentration and rational, logical thinking. Mercury square Neptune brings over-stimulated imagination, and intuitive thinking that can lead to confusion, delusion and deceit. Let your imagination flow, but emphasize the use of rational, clear thinking to make any decisions.
July 5: Mercury Enters Cancer and Mars Enters Taurus. Mercury Sextiles Mars at 0 Degrees Cancer/Taurus. Mars in Taurus brings strong personal desires, especially around security issues. Mercury in Cancer is an excellent time to communicate with family and those you consider to be family. The sextile helps such communication to flow easily.
July 10: Sun Sextile Uranus at 18 Degrees Cancer/Taurus. This is an exciting transit firing up your need for change and fresh horizons. Sun sextile Uranus will help you find innovative ways to establish new habits and to make the needed changes. Your need for freedom is tweaked under this transit.
July 13: Full Moon at 21 Degrees Capricorn Opposing Sun at 21 Degrees Cancer. The Full Moon at the Capricorn/Cancer axis points to a conflict between career and home matters or, simply, a pulling between practicality and nurturing. This Capricorn Full Moon illuminates your business and professional life and gifts you with an abundance of reality-based ambition. Use the Capricorn Full Moon to finish up old projects and to implement new, lucrative career opportunities.
July 13: Mercury Sextile Uranus at 18 Degrees Cancer/Taurus. Your mind may be abuzz with all kinds of unusual, inventive and, even radical, ideas. You are ready to express yourself in new and, possibly, shocking ways. Mercury sextile Uranus is an excellent aspect under which to find new, unexpected solutions to old “unsolvable” problems. Put on your thinking cap and let the unconventional ideas flow.
July 14-15: Venus Square Neptune at 25 Degrees Gemini/Pisces and Venus Quincunx Pluto at 27 Degrees Gemini/Pisces. Under Venus square Neptune you may have unrealistic expectations, especially as regards a romantic or financial connection. Daydreams and rose-colored glasses flourish under this aspect. Venus quincunx Pluto stresses the need for adjustment in your perception of reality.
July 16: Sun Conjunct Mercury at 23 Degrees Cancer and Sun and Mercury Quincunx Saturn at 23 Degrees Cancer/Aquarius. The Sun conjunct Mercury brings excellent vibes around clear, assertive communication. It is especially good for speaking or writing. Mercury quincunx Saturn can be a little challenging, as it requires that an adjustment to be made. While Sun conjunct Mercury brings clear thinking, Sun and Mercury quincunx Saturn requires that you concentrate, and limit the tendency to overthink and overload your mind.
Then on July 17, the Sun and Mercury are trine Neptune. Sun trine Neptune nudges you to follow your intuition and to record your dreams and ideas. Mercury trine Neptune is similar to Sun trine Neptune, but it adds accuracy to your intuitive thinking and you are more aware of subtleties.
July 18-19: Mercury and Sun Opposing Pluto at 27 Degrees Cancer/Capricorn. You may feel an overload of mental intensity and a touch of paranoia when Mercury is opposing Pluto. The Sun opposing Pluto can subject you to a passive-aggressive argument. You are more vulnerable to persuasive speech under these planetary connections, so be aware of salespeople and overly-zealous friends and family trying to change your mind.
July 19: Mercury Enters Leo. Mercury likes being in Leo, since air (Mercury) planets thrive in fire signs (Leo). Learning new things, socializing, and just having fun are called for when Mercury transits Leo. It is a great time to take a leadership role at work or in groups.
July 22: Sun Enters Leo.
July 23: Mercury Trine Jupiter at 8 Degrees Leo/Aries. Take advantage of Mercury trine Jupiter in the fiery signs of Leo and Aries by making plans for the future and by working out more efficient organizational systems. Jupiter adds a generally expansive and optimistic energy to your ideas, so entertain all possibilities.
July 25: Venus Square Jupiter at 8 Degrees Cancer/Aries. Venus square Jupiter is a wonderful transit so long as you use some discipline and avoid acting on impulse. Venus square Jupiter is superb for enjoying your self in the company of others. Personal relationships and money matters are also favored under Venus square Jupiter.
The next day Mercury squares Mars at 14 Degrees Leo/Taurus. Mercury square Mars is a difficult transit. You may feel touchy and irritable and may be a little more accident prone, especially injuries to your arms and legs due to not paying attention. As everyone around you is also experiencing Mercury square Mars, be careful not to provoke unwanted attention.
July 28: New Moon at 5 Degrees Leo. Unlike last month’s New Moon in Cancer, this Leo New Moon is energizing and much less emotional. Use this Leo New moon to activate your goals, to release and nurture your inner child, and to give to yourself and others in a warm, generous, Leo way. Creative endeavors, fun activities, and activities with children are all favored. The icing on the cake is the New Moon trine Jupiter. Jupiter expands everything it touches and lends a sense of optimism, expansion and joy to this Leo New Moon. What you set in motion now will gain additional umph when Mars joins Uranus and the North Node at 18 degrees Taurus on August 1.
July 31: Sun Trine Jupiter at 8 Degrees Leo/Aries. Good feelings, peace and harmony are in the air under Sun trine Jupiter. Use this helpful trine to manifest your desires: Envision what you want and feel yourself already receiving it. Do this with emotion for at least 30 days to train your subconscious to manifest what you have envisioned under Sun trine Jupiter.
