Astrology Transits November 2024 – Intense Soul Searching

Image by Roman Mikhailiuk from 123rft

Water gushing out of thousands of springs at different places cannot move the wheels of a big engine to carry out very heavy tasks. But the channeled flow of the same water in the bed of a stream will, however, be irresistible and can become a source of tremendous energy. — Gulzarilal Nanda

As Pluto moves into Aquarius on November 19, beginning its long, slow, 20-year transit through that sign, it will make a tense opposition to Mars in Leo. This combination can lead to an extreme desire for power and aggression and compulsive, yet spur-of-the moment decisions. Overall, the watch phrase is: “Think before you act or speak.”

There is no doubt that we are dealing with strong energy at this time. However, remember that Aquarius is the sign of community, groups, cooperation and innovation. Pluto, the great transformer, when in Aquarius, urges us to come together and channel our energy to solve problems and to enhance our living conditions. The more we work together, the more we will accomplish. Mars moving into Leo is the sparkplug you need to move forward in your own personal growth. Change is all around us and Mars in Leo gives you the needed courage to change long-standing issues.

November 1: New Moon at 9 Degrees Scorpio at 5:46 AM EDT. A Scorpio New Moon brings up intense feelings and profound insights. This New Moon in Scorpio is an excellent time to take a deep look into your motivations and actions. Especially, ask yourself whether you are coming from a place of integrity and peace or from a place of fear and paranoia. The vast changes we are experiencing now and next year are an opportunity to collectively move mountains. Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, leads the way as it moves into forward-thinking Aquarius on the 19th.

November 2: Mercury Enters Sagittarius. Jupiter Sextile Chiron at 20 Degrees Gemini/Aries. Mercury in Sagittarius brings a desire to expand your intellectual horizons, to go traveling and/or exploring. Jupiter sextile Chiron brings an ease to those matters that have been troubling you, especially those from the past. Chiron in Aries pushes you to take constructive action rather than to silently stew about past hurts or slights.

November 3: Venus Opposition Jupiter at 20 Degrees Sagittarius/Gemini. Venus trine Chiron at 20 Degrees Sagittarius/Aries. You will most likely feel like playing hooky from school or work when Venus is opposition Jupiter in the playful signs of Sagittarius and Gemini. Venus trine Chiron helps you to see past hurts or wounding in a positive, more light-hearted way. Venus opposing Jupiter asks you to look at where your life has gotten out of balance and to take the necessary steps to regain that balance.

November 3-4: Mars Opposition Pluto. Mars Enters Leo. Sun at 12 Degrees Scorpio Sesiquiquadrate Neptune at 27 Degrees Pisces. Sun Trine Saturn at 12 Degrees Scorpio/Pisces. Mars opposition Pluto just before the United States election is not an aspect I would choose. It shows power struggles, anger, violence and rash, impulsive decisions. Mars in Leo, the sign of leaders and leadership, only amplifies the energy. The Sun sesiquiquadrate Neptune brings an overlay of uncertainty and hidden forces behind everything. Luckily, the Sun trine Saturn helps to bring calm and discipline to cool off the overheated Mars opposition Pluto energy.

On a personal level, Mars opposition Pluto is superb for accomplishment. You have the mindset to move ahead despite any obstacles.

November 7: Venus Quincunx Uranus at 25 Degrees Sagittarius/Taurus. Venus quincunx Uranus can amplify impatience and rash decisions (Uranus). Be especially careful with money and romantic matters (Venus).

November 9: Venus Square Neptune at 27 Degrees Sagittarius/Pisces. Bring out the paint bushes and easels when Venus is square Neptune. Your creativity and intuition are enhanced but, alas, so is your tendency to be unrealistic or overly idealistic. You may expect more of your romantic partner than is realistic or you may see qualities in them that simply do not exist. If possible, delay decisions until Venus enters Capricorn on November 11 when you will have a more realistic viewpoint.

November 11: Sun Quincunx Jupiter at 19 Degrees Scorpio/Gemini. Sun Quincunx Chiron at 19 Degrees Scorpio/Aries. The Scorpio Sun quincunx both Jupiter and Chiron form a yod aspect with the Sun at the apex. Use this dynamic aspect to go deeply within (Scorpio Sun). Ask yourself: Where am I sabotaging myself? The Sun quincunx Chiron can illuminate needed adjustments.

November 11: Venus Enters Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn until February 4, 2025, is an excellent time to assess your career and financial goals.

November 14: Venus Quincunx Mars at 3 Degrees Capricorn/Leo. Venus Square the North Node (3 Degrees Aries) and South Node (3 Degrees Libra). When Venus is quincunx Mars and square the Nodes, something has to give and decisions must be made, especially concerning finances and relationshp matters,

November 15: Saturn Turns Starionary Direct at 12 Degrees Pisces. Hopefully, you came to some concrete decisions during Saturn’s retrograde period from June 29 until today. It is now time to add action to those decisions.

November 15-26: Full Moon at 24 -25 Degrees Taurus Conjunct Uranus Opposition Sun at 24 Degrees Scorpio.. Watch for unexpected emotional reactions when the Taurus Full Moon is conjunct Uranus and opposite the Sun in Scorpio. When both the Moon and Sun are in fixed signs, there is a danger of stubborn and unyielding positions. Uranus can break that logjam but, unfortunately, it brings the danger of chaotic, unreasonable actions. Keep a low profile under this Full Moon in Taurus.

November 18:  Sun Trine Neptune at 27 Degrees Scorpio/Pisces. If possible, use the Sun trine Neptune to sit in quiet meditation. Both the Sun and Neptune in water signs give you deep insights into your spiritual needs. Your intuition will be at an all-time high level (especially for Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces). This aspect is especially beneficial for those of you in the creative or spiritual professions.

November 19: Pluto Enters Aquarius. Tiny, but mighty, Pluto moving into Aquarius begins a 20-year shift toward a more humanitarian, inclusive mindset, with less emphasis on capitalism, authoritarianism and patriarchal views. You won’t notice Pluto’s sojourn into Aquarius on a daily basis but, rest assured, Pluto is working behind the scenes to transform your outlook.

I gave a talk about the major shifts in year 2025 when all the outer planets, plus Saturn, change signs. I am busy editing it and hope to post it for viewing some time soon.

November 20-21: Sun Enters Sagittarius. The Sun in Sagittarius brings a welcome movement from intense, introspective Scorpio to more light-hearted, fun-oriented Sagittarius. The heavy energy of the last few weeks begins to dissipate and it should be easier to see the big picture. Intellectual and travel matters are favored. Plan a trip or, even better, take a trip to someplace new.

November 26: Mercury turns retrograde at 22 Degrees Sagittarius. Its time to re-examine your beliefs when Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius until December 15.

November 27: Sun Trine Mars at 6 Degrees Sagittarius/Leo. The Sun trine Mars is an action-oriented aspect that favors starting something new and/or using your burst of energy and motivation to complete projects that have been stagnant for way to long. Be aware that Mercury is retrograde until December 15 and double check any detailed plans or contracts before proceeding.

November 28: Venus Square Chiron at 20 Degrees Capricorn/Aries. Venus square Chiron on Thanksgiving Day provides an opportunity to heal old emotional, family scars.

November 30: New Moon at 9 Degrees Sagittarius. The Sagittarius New Moon brings back a sense of optimism and the urge to leave your past traumas behind. A Sagittarius New Moon acts as a guide to transition from the dark times of facing our fears (Scorpio energy at the Full Moon) into a time of hope and optimism. Though the challenges remain, it is as though you are peeking out of a dark room into a shaft of light. The Sabian symbol for this New Moon is “A golden-haired goddess of opportunity.” It speaks to continuing with what you know is right, even if the road sometimes seems lonesome and long. Right thinking and right action will prevail.

Astrology Transits October 2024 – Balance Amid Turmoil

Throughout the infinite, the forces are in a perfect balance, and hence the energy of a single thought may determine the motion of a universe. — Nikola Tesla

When I was preparing this newsletter, I was struck by how many aspects were either a quincunx (also known as an inconjunct) or sesiquiquadrate. After more thought, I realized that the aspects accurately reflect the October energy.

The quincunx aspect is formed when two planets are at an angle of 150 degrees from each other. The two planets are hidden from each other and thus find it difficult, if not impossible, to have a meaningful interaction. A quincunx in a birth chart will show subconscious behavior patterns that are difficult to realize, acknowledge and confront. Any incompatible energy between the planets just sets there and smolders until it finally, leads to a blow up or blow out. Of course, that same energy prevails when transiting planets aspect your birth chart.

The sesquiquadrate aspect forms when two planets are 135 degrees from each other. Like a square aspect it creates tension and challenges. When the energy is not used positively, the energy can have a compulsive, obsessive or stubborn quality. Used in a positive manner, it can motivate you to push aside any obstacles and to make significant progress.

October 2: New Moon Solar Eclipse at 10 Degrees Libra at 2:49 PM EDT. This Libra Solar Eclipse is part of the 8 South eclipse series that began at the South Pole on April 1, 1718. Each eclipse in a series repeats itself every 18 years and carries a similar meaning from the original eclipse. The basic meaning is “to finish something and to feel sad at its completion (per Bernadette Brady)”. The Libra New Moon Solar Eclipse starts the new 18-year cycle of the major planetary energy moving into fire and air signs. Uranus in Taurus sesiquiquadrate the South Node, Moon and Sun, suggests that we have all become complacent. Its time to shake things up and move into a new way of thinking and being.

I will be giving a talk about the big, big changes that are coming to our planet ushered in by the recent eclipses and Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius on November 19. I will be speaking at the Spiritual Center, 3rd Street Center, Suite 31, in Carbondale, CO, on October 13, at 10:00 am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

October 4: Sun at 11 Degrees Libra Sesiquiquadrate Uranus at 26 Degrees Taurus.  Venus Trine Saturn at 14 Degrees Scorpio/Pisces. Sun sesiquiquadrate Uranus in the Venus-ruled signs of Libra and Taurus puts the emphasis on your relationships and security concerns, as does Venus trine Saturn in Scorpio and Pisces. This is a good time to take a deep look into any buried issues (Scorpio) that need your attention. Venus trine Saturn can help you sort things out in a realistic, fair (Libra) manner.

October 6: Sun Quincunx Saturn at 14 Degrees Libra/Pisces. The Sun and Saturn are uneasy partners at best. When they are in a quincunx aspect, an adjustment needs to be made between your needs and the limiting factors around you. The Sun in Libra is willing to negotiate and Saturn in Pisces is not as powerful as usual, so it is easier to come to an agreement between competing interests.

October 8: Venus Trine Mars at 19 Degrees Scorpio/Cancer. Venus trine Mars is excellent for working out relationship issues. Venus keeps Mars from being too abrasive, while Mars helps Venus asset herself. Your powers of attraction are amped up under this aspect, so invite that special someone out for coffee or lunch today.

October 9: Jupiter Turns Retrograde at 21 Degrees Gemini. Jupiter retrograde in Gemini until February 5, 2025 is a time to reassess your beliefs. Ask yourself:

  • Where have I become stuck in my belief system?
  • What new ideas do I need to consider about life and the way that it works?

October 11: Pluto Turns Direct at 29 Degrees Capricorn. Pluto moving direct will enter Aquarius on November 19, 2024, which will change everything over the next 20 years. Short terms changes may not be noticeable unless Pluto conjuncts  one of your natal planets in very early Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio.

October 13: Sun Opposition Chiron at 21 Degrees Libra/Aries. Sun Trine Jupiter at 21 Degrees Libra/Gemini. Mercury Square Pluto at 29 Degrees Libra/Capricorn. The Sun opposing Chiron on the Libra/Aries axis puts the spotlight on your fears and past hurts that have stifled your ability to shine as you are meant to do. Mercury square Pluto can bring your deepest, darkest shame and guilt to the surface for healing. This is especially apt, with the Sun in Libra. Libra Sun signs are masters at feeling guilty about anything and everything.

October 13: Mercury Enters Scorpio. Mars Square Chiron at 21 Degrees Cancer/Aries. Mercury in Scorpio until November 1st amplifies your ability to see beneath the surface façades. Use this time to make sense of confusing people, places or things. Mars square Chiron helps you understand and heal your own hidden pain and hurt feelings. Be careful though, as Mars here can cause you to blame someone else and to lash out at them unprovoked.

October 14:  Sun Square Mars at 21 Degrees Libra/CancerVenus Opposition Uranus at 26 Degrees Scorpio/Taurus. Sun square Mars and Venus opposition Uranus in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Taurus are flashing a big red warning sign. A few words that come to mind are “angry” and “stubborn”, leading to sudden unreasonable upsets. Be careful when driving and think before you act in a rash, unthinking manner. Venus opposition Uranus can lead to sudden separations, so take a deep breath and count to 20 (or more) before you act.

October 17: Full Moon at 24 Degrees Aries. Venus Sextile Pluto at 29 Degrees Scorpio/Capricorn. Venus Enters Sagittarius. This Aries Full Moon is the planetary complement to the October 2nd Libra Solar Eclipse. The solar eclipse was about letting go of guilt, and misplaced burdens. This Aries Full Moon is about taking action (Aries) to bring in the new and exciting. Notice how a T-square is formed by the Aries Full Moon conjunct Chiron square the Sun, square Mars and also widely square Pluto. Challenging yes, but with high potential to free yourself from old anger, guilt, and power issues. A big, big caution, however. Be mindful in all you do and be careful of acting from emotion.

October 19: Sun Quincunx Uranus and Sun Quincunx Moon at 26 Degrees Libra/Taurus. This could be a rather frustrating day with the Sun quincunx Uranus and also Sun quincunx the Moon. This could be especially taxing if you have planets in late degrees of the cardinal signs (Libra, Capricorn, Aries and Libra) or late degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius). Luckily, the Sun moves fairly fast, so it is a short-lived aspect.

October 20: Sun Quincunx Neptune at 27 Degrees Libra/Pisces. Sun Sesiquiquadrate Saturn at 13 Degrees Pisces. This is another day when frustration (quincunx), limitation (Saturn) and confusion (Sun quincunx Neptune) are in the planetary soup. Stay calm and this too shall pass fairly quickly.

October 22: Sun Square Pluto at 29 Degrees Libra/Capricorn. Sun Enters Scorpio at 6:14 PM. Sun square Pluto at the last degrees of Libra and Capricorn can be summed up in the phrase: “light meets dark” or “our essence meets the deep, subconscious forces within.” Spend a few minutes today reflecting on any possible hidden motivations that are holding you back. The Sun square Pluto aspect can help you accomplish amazing things once you let go of subconscious fears. The last degrees of a sign are a completion energy. As much as possible, finish what you have started before the Sun moves into Scorpio later today and Pluto moves into Aquarius on November 19.

October 24: Mars Sextile Uranus at 26 Degrees Cancer/Taurus. Mars sextile Uranus brings an itchy, restless, impatient feeling. You are prone to making impulsive, and potentially unwise, decisions under this aspect. Though uncomfortable, Mars and Uranus can be helpful in freeing yourself from worn out, unhelpful relationships and situations. Just use caution as you proceed and think before you act.

October 29: 28: Venus Square Saturn at 13 Degrees Sagittarius/Pisces. Mars Trine Neptune at 27 Degrees Cancer/Pisces. Mars at 27 Degrees Cancer Sesiquiquadrate Saturn at 13 Degrees Pisces.  Mars sesiquiquadrate Saturn in the water signs of Cancer and Pisces may bring extreme highs and extreme lows in your emotional body or fluctuations between depression (Saturn) and adrenaline rushes (Mars). Try to stay calm and go with the flow. Everyone, but especially water signs, may find it helpful to go sit by a peaceful ocean or gently flowing stream.

Astrology Transits April 2024 – Renewal

Rise said the moon and the new day came  Rupi Kaur, The Sun and Her Flowers

April 2024 promises to be an action-packed month due to an over-abundance of Mars/Aries energy. It is a significant planetary month with a total solar eclipse in Aries on April 8 and a rare conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus on April 19-20. The phrase that pops into my head is “things are happening!” The Mars/Aries energy brings new beginnings, lots of action and the will and desire to move forward.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus happens every 14 years. However, Jupiter has not been conjunct Uranus in Taurus since 1941. Jupiter brings expansion, growth and opportunity, while Uranus represents sudden change, innovation and disruptions in the status quo. The sign of Taurus represents stability and being grounded and focused. Taurus rules our material resources and what we value.

We are all being called to embrace the new and to flow with the unexpected, even startling, changes, while staying focused and grounded. We have all felt had the sense that time seems to be moving faster and faster. When Uranus, the “Great Awakener” is nunder the rays of expansive Jupiter, we are only just beginning to see the extent of the changes that are coming. The arrival of “artificial intelligence” is an apt example of the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus. Huge scientific breakthroughs that will change our life (Uranus) have many benefits, but too much of a good thing (Jupiter) can be problematic.

On a personal note, I have just finished my beginning astrology class and am planning a follow-up series for more advanced beginners and intermediate students. The classes will start in May and will be held twice a month each month for the foreseeable future. More information is available HERE.

April 1: Mercury Stationary Retrograde at 27 Degrees Aries. Mercury is retrograde in Aries until April 25, when it turns stationary direct at 16 Degrees Aries. Use this Mercury retrograde time to re-assess your goals (Aries) and your approach to implementing those goals. When Mercury turns direct, put those plans into action and solidify them next month under the Taurus rays.

April 3: Venus Conjunct Neptune at 28 Degrees Pisces. Practice universal love and compassion under this exceptionally pleasant aspect. Venus conjunct Neptune blurs the edges of reality allowing you to see only the best in those around you. Though this is a short-lived aspect, you can keep this energy flowing in your consciousness all year to improve your relationships. Artistic matters are highly favored when Venus is conjunct Neptune.

April 4: Sun Conjunct North Node at 15 Degrees Aries; Sun Opposition South Node at 15 Degrees Libra. Right in tune with the dynamic nature of the month, when the Sun is conjunct the North Node, it is time to ask yourself: “What is my life purpose? Am I taking steps to fulfill that life purpose. The Sun opposing the South Node indicates that self-reflection and the release of old patterns of identity are needed to let you express your life purpose (North Node) more fully.

April 4: Venus Enters Aries. Venus in Aries until April 29 brings a certain boldness and daring to your activities, especially those connected to love and financial matters. If you have been wanting to start a business or to ask that certain someone out, Venus in Aries gives you the impetus to make the first move.

April 6: Venus Sextile Pluto at 1 Degree Aries/Aquarius. A beneficial use of Venus sextile Pluto is to do some deep work (Pluto) around how your emotions and ideas about love, including self-love (Venus) affect your relationships. Because Venus and Pluto are in an easy sextile aspect, such work will be easier now. This is a good time to clear out emotional garbage in preparation for the New Moon Solar Eclipse.

April 8: New Moon Total Solar Eclipse at 19 Degrees 24 Minutes Aries.  The Aries New Moon total Solar Eclipse continues the Aries/Libra theme that is in force most of the month. It is significant that the Sun, Moon and North Node are conjunct Chiron. Releasing (eclipse) and healing relationship wounds (Chiron) of all kinds are a main focus of this total Solar Eclipse. Look to the house of your chart that contains Aries and/or Libra to understand the area of your life most affected. Big breakthroughs can occur for all Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) under this potent configuration.

April 10: Mars Conjunct Saturn at 14 Degrees Pisces. Mars conjunct Saturn can be difficult energy. Mars wants to act and to act now. Saturn wants you to take things slow, work hard and take responsibility. You may be feeling restless, angry and irritable (Mars), yet feel that you are blocked, limited and unable to do anything about it (Saturn). The best way to handle this conflicting energy is to find something active to do. It might be a great day to clean out the garage or to pull weeds. Be careful while driving as road rage could result from this volatile energy.

April 11: Sun Conjunct Mercury at 22 Degrees Aries. You may find yourself taking lots of short trips and/or coming and going when the Sun is conjunct Mercury in Aries. The Sun conjunct Mercury in Aries can make you rather impatient, so count to 10 before over reacting to news and/or conversations.

April 17: Venus Conjunct North Node at 15 Degrees Aries.  Venus conjunct the North Node is prime for re-inventing yourself. The North Node is about finding your life purpose, while Venus brings blessings to help you implement the changes. Look to the North Node in your natal chart to understand the nature of those changes.

April 19: Sun Enters Taurus.

Mercury Conjunct Venus at 18 Degrees Aries.

Mars Sextile Jupiter at 21 Degrees Pisces/Taurus.

Mars Sextile Uranus at 21 Degrees Pisces/Taurus. The Sun enters Taurus under pleasant aspects between Mercury and Venus in Aries and Mars sextile the Jupiter/Uranus historic conjunction in Taurus. All systems are “go,” but you need to put in effort to make things happen. Otherwise, sextiles can float on by with nothing accomplished. Be aware, that Mars in aspect to both Jupiter and Uranus can be pretty volatile. Walk away from any confrontations. You and the situation will be better for it.

April 20: Jupiter Conjunct Uranus at 21 Degrees Taurus. Sun Square Pluto at 2 Degrees Taurus/Aquarius. Venus Conjunct Chiron at 20 Degrees Aries. Jupiter conjunct Uranus is the aspect we have all been waiting for. There has been a lot of hype in the media about this configuration and it is, in fact quite a rarity. Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct approximately every 14 years. However, the last time they were conjunct in Taurus was almost 83 years ago when they came together in May 1941. We can look to events from that time period to get a flavor for the current probabilities of how this conjunction will manifest.

Jupiter expands everything it touches, while Uranus breaks the chains that keep us stuck. Look for major breakthroughs (Uranus) in environmental matters (Taurus), financial matters and our collective ideas around value. Revolutions and breakthroughs of all kinds are probable. In your personal chart look to the house and planets, if any, that are near 21 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius to see where the biggest impact on your life will occur.

The Sun square Pluto adds urgency to the Uranus/Jupiter connection. When the Sun is square Pluto, you may feel that you are being tested by outside forces over which you have no control. Venus conjunct Chiron urges you to do the necessary work to heal your hidden fears and wounds.

April 23: Full Moon at 4 Degrees 17 Minutes Scorpio. The Moon in Scorpio forms a T-square with the Sun at 4 degrees Taurus and Pluto at 2 degrees Aquarius. This Scorpio Full Moon is super intense and transformative, especially if you have planets within five degrees of the Full Moon in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius. Be nice to yourself and give yourself permission to withdraw from the world to a quiet place if possible. You are processing some pretty deep feelings right now. Such processing will be beneficial, but Scorpio/Pluto activations can be challenging.

April 25: Mercury Turns Stationary Direct at 16 Degrees Aries. See April 1 above where I discuss Mercury retrograde.

April 29: Venus Enters Taurus. Venus feels right at home in Taurus and can express herself fully here. Venus in Taurus until May 24 is conductive to financial planning and re-evaluation. Taurus relates to our values. Ask yourself: “What do I really value?” Venus is the planet of “blessings received.” Use Venus’ power of attraction to manifest what you really value.

April 29: Mars Conjunct Neptune at 28 Degrees Pisces. Mars conjunct Neptune is a rather “twitchy” aspect. It can bring feelings of irritability, inferiority, fatigue escapism and depression. This is not a good time to start things or to push yourself. Your judgment is compromised and your energy level may be lower than normal. Stay away from drugs and alcohol. Instead, reach out to the local soup kitchen or dog pound. Selflessly helping others is the best antidote for this puzzling transit.

April 30: Mars Enters Aries. Let the action begin!! Mars rules Aries and feels right at home here. Expect lots of action, lots of assertiveness and lots of short trips until Mars enters Taurus on June 9. This is superb energy for starting new ventures as long as you have made detailed plans before proceeding. Without a plan, impulsive Mars in Aries may not bring the desired results. Be careful to curb impulsiveness and impatience.

Astrology Transits September 2023 – Harvest

“What are you planting today to harvest tomorrow?”— Lailah Gifty Akita

There is often a feeling of melancholy when the Sun moves into Virgo. The days are gradually become shorter and shorter and our attention turns to all those tasks, connections and communications unsaid or not completed during the summer. It is time for the harvest, both literally and figuratively. Now is an opportune time to review the last four months. Give yourself credit for what has been accomplished and make plans for the next four months.

Four planets change motion between August 23 and September 16. Mercury and Uranus retrograde indicate that things may not turn out exactly as expected. Clear communication is needed (Mercury retrograde) as is the ability to go with the flow (Uranus retrograde). Events are changeable and not easily controlled. Uranus brings surprises, inspiration and breakthroughs. Tune into the positive energy by letting go of fixed ideas and controlling tendencies. Here is a quick summary of the retrograde planets from May 11 until the end of January 2024.

  • Venus Retrograde: From July 23 to September 4.
  • Mercury Retrograde: From August 24 to September 16.
  • Pluto Retrograde: From May 11 to October 22.
  • Saturn Retrograde: From June 18 to November 4.
  • Uranus Retrograde From August 30 to January 28, 2024
  • Neptune Retrograde: From July 1 to December 6.
  • Jupiter Retrograde: From September 5 to December 31.

August 30: Uranus Turns Retrograde at 23 Degrees Taurus. Uranus is retrograde in Taurus until January 28, 2004. Planets move closer to the Sun when retrograde so their effects become stronger. Uranus is the planet of change and sudden reversals. The stock market has fluctuated wildly with Uranus in Taurus. Such stock market swings may intensify when Uranus is retrograde. It is best not to panic on downturns or become overly optimistic on upturns. It’s just Uranus doing its thing.

September 1: Mars Quincunx Saturn at 3 Degrees Libra/Pisces. Adjustments must be made when a planet is in a quincunx aspect. Mars quincunx Saturn is perhaps more challenging than most quincunx aspects. Mars wants action and it wants it now. Saturn wants to use a slower, more conservative, more thought-out approach. When the signs of Libra and Pisces are involved, it is even more problematic. Libra has a hard time making decisions. Pisces often doesn’t know why a decision has to be made at all. Put off major decisions until after September 4, when Mercury trine Jupiter makes decision making much easier.

September 4: Mercury Trine Jupiter at 15 Degrees Virgo/Taurus. Words flow and optimism is high when Mercury is trine Jupiter. Mercury trine Jupiter is especially conductive to handling money and business communication.

September 4: Venus Turns Direct at 12 Degrees Leo. Venus direct in Leo is a signal to move ahead with relationship and financial matters (Venus). However, if you happen to be in a challenging relationship,, practice self-love when making such relationship decisions; especially if you have been sacrificing yourself to keep the relationship going.

September 5: Jupiter Turns Retrograde at 15 Degrees Taurus. Jupiter is retrograde in Taurus until January 1, 2024. Use Jupiter retrograde in Taurus to reflect on your values, goals and relationships. Ask yourself: “Am I living my life in a way that aligns with my core values?” “What role does money and security play in my life?”

Because Uranus is also transiting retrograde in Taurus, there may be more fluctuations in money and relationship matters than usual. Use this time to put yourself on a secure financial foundation (Taurus). The fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) will especially feel this energy.

September 8: Sun Trine Jupiter at 15 Degrees Virgo/Taurus. Sun trine Jupiter brings a short-lived, but welcome, sense of feeling good about yourself, optimism, and harmony. Because Sun and Jupiter are both in earth signs there is an added bonus of feeling grounded. Enjoy.

September 8: Mars at 7 Libra Sesiquiquadrate Uranus at 23 Degrees Taurus. Be careful of accidents, confrontational people and generally an unexpected atmosphere of chaos, anger, tension and ego conflicts. Use this aspect positively by taking steps to liberate yourself from unwanted conditions. Those of you with planets in Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus will feel this energy the most.

September 14:  New Moon at 22 Degrees Virgo. Sun and Moon (New Moon) Trine Uranus at 22 Degrees Taurus. The New Moon in Virgo Trine Uranus is right in step with this month’s “Harvest” theme. Look back over the summer and see where adjustments need to be made (quincunx aspects). Set your intentions for the month, and even the year, and release them into the ethers. Retrograde Jupiter and Uranus in a wide conjunction trine the New Moon urges you to: “Let go and trust.” Jupiter brings abundance and Uranus brings sudden breakthroughs. Your wishes can manifest when the time is right.

September 15: Sun Trine Uranus at 22 Degrees Virgo/Taurus. Try something new and get moving when the Sun is trine Uranus. A general feeling of restlessness abounds, which requires action and expanding your outlook and horizons. This would be an excellent time to take up a new study that challenges your mind and fixed ideas. Stay tuned for more information on a Zoom astrology class that I am putting together.

September 16: Mercury Turns Direct. We all breathe a sigh of relief when Mercury turns direct. Time to take action on all those things you wanted to do when Mercury was retrograde.

September 17: Venus Square Jupiter at 15 Degrees Leo/Taurus.  Venus square Jupiter is traditionally a transit of expansion, optimism and general well -being. Relationships are easier now, and finances improve. Avoid overspending when Venus is square Jupiter.

September 19: Sun Opposition Neptune at 26 Degrees Virgo/Pisces. Pluto at 27 degrees Capricorn. It’s best not to engage in important conversations now. Mercury is still in its retrograde direct shadow period and confusion and delusion reign when the Sun is opposition Neptune. Pluto trine the Sun brings out aggression and the need to control. Instead, engage in deep introspection (Pluto) and spiritual clearing practices (Neptune).

September 19: Mars Quincunx Jupiter at 15 Degrees Libra/Taurus. Mars quincunx Jupiter spells frustration. Mars is screaming that it wants action and it wants it now. It may show a fit of anger in the process. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, so it is only adding fuel to the flame. Planets in quincunx aspect cannot see or hear each other so it becomes challenging to resolve conflicts.

September 21: Sun Trine Pluto at 28 Degrees Virgo/Capricorn.  Sun trine Pluto in earth signs is excellent for accomplishment. You are motivated, focused and grounded.

September 23: Sun Enters Libra. The overall focus is now on relationship matters and the need for more balance in your life.

September 24: Sun Quincunx Saturn at 1 Degrees Libra/Pisces. When the Sun is quincunx Saturn, the challenge is to make an adjustment (quincunx) regarding your ego needs (Sun) and your tendency to denigrate and unfairly criticize yourself (Saturn). We all tend to criticize ourselves more when the Sun is in Libra. Instead, acknowledge your faults, but show compassion and love for yourself.

September 25: Mercury Trine Jupiter at 14 Degrees Virgo/Jupiter. I love how the planets mix the challenging energy with the easy, “coasting” energy. Mercury trine Jupiter is one of those coasting aspects where communication (Mercury) flows easily (trine with Jupiter) and a general feeling of optimism and well-being abounds (Jupiter). Retrograde Jupiter asks us to transmute past fears and worries into a more positive vibe.

September 27: Mercury Quincunx Chiron at 18 Degrees Virgo/Aries. Old wounds come up for examination when Mercury is quincunx Chiron. Today can bring painful events and worries into focus. Be kind to yourself and others.

September 29: Full Moon at 6 Degrees Aries.  This Full Moon in Aries in opposition to the Sun in Libra speaks to partnership and relationship matters. Ask yourself: “Who am I in relationship to others in my life?” “How can I find a balance between my needs and the needs of others?”

Venus square Uranus brings a need for freedom, excitement and change, which can lead to problems in romantic relationships. Instead, Find something new and exciting to do. Or learn about some weird or unusual phenomena (UFOs, Sasquatch, astrology, dowsing?).  Enjoy experimenting with new clothing styles and colors. Venus square Uranus is excellent for updating and refreshing your image.

September 30:  Mercury Trine Uranus at 22 Degrees Virgo/Taurus. Restlessness and a need for mental stimulation are hallmarks of Mercury trine Uranus. Read a book that requires thought about an unusual subject or watch a mind-expanding documentary.
