October 2026 certainly is an interesting astrological month. Venus, the planet of love and “blessings received”, is in the spotlight. Venus promotes balance, love, harmony and it is active in negotiations and in finding solutions to relationship problems. The month begins with the Sun in a grand trine with Uranus, Pluto and Neptune. This is an unusually harmonious signature between planets associated with power (Pluto), technology (Uranus), transformation (Pluto), vision (Neptune), and collective ideals (Uranus). Those planets are at or near the 4-degree mark of Barbault’s basket that I talked about in an earlier newsletter. They reactivate the energy of Barbault’s basket.
However, there are also several challenging aspects that promote anything but harmony. Rather, these aspects bring tension and conflicts that must be navigated and, hopefully, solved or mitigated though the helpful Venusian energy. Venus turns Retrograde in Scorpio on October 3. Venus in Scorpio brings major transformation to everything related to love and relationships, desire and attraction, money and finances, values, self-worth, security and stability.
In addition, Mars, the planet of warfare and conflict, opposes Pluto on October 3. It is easy to see that the Venusian symbolism of peace, harmony and balance is challenged by the Mars/Pluto signature of aggression and conflict.
The Libra new Moon on October 10 gives you the opportunity to reset your ideas and actions around love, money and relationships. It furthers the energetic dynamic started by Venus when it turned retrograde in Scorpio on October 3. You are being challenged to look at your old ways of relating and to refresh those ideas in a way that is more in tune with who you are now – not who you were in the past. Jupiter in Leo sextile the Sun and Moon in Libra offers the chance for new possibilities, collaborations and expansion in all areas relating to your connection to others.
You can best navigate this confusing energy by staying calm during the challenging aspects and to always keep your focus on the positive Libra energy of balance, love and harmony.
October 2-3: Mercury at 3 Degrees Scorpio Square Mars at 3 Degrees Leo; Quincunx Neptune at 2 Degrees Aries and Square Pluto at 3 Degrees Aquarius.
Mars Trine Neptune at 3 Degrees Leo/Aries. Mars Opposition Pluto at 3 Degrees Leo/Aquarius. You have a choice between peace (Mars trine Neptune) or strife (Mars opposition Pluto). Mercury square Mars in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Leo brings the tendency to resist change. Use the Mercury energy to learn the facts before making a firm decision.
October 3: Venus Turns Retrograde at 9 Degrees Scorpio. Venus is retrograde until November 14, giving you plenty of time to work on Venus issues concerning money, love, beauty, balance and relationships.
October 4-5: Sun Opposition Saturn at 11 Degrees Libra/Aries. Mercury Quincunx Uranus at 5 Degrees Scorpio/Gemini. The Sun opposite Saturn can bring a sense of loneliness, or a feeling that you are unable to connect with others in the way you would like. Mercury quincunx Uranus may also leave you feeling restless. Don’t push yourself now, but allow yourself to rest or to at least experience some quiet time to recharge your energy.
October 6: Mercury Conjunct Venus at 8 Degrees Scorpio. Conversations flow easily and compromise and agreement are possible. However, because Mercury conjunct Venus occurs in Scorpio, some deep and intense conversations may be needed to clear the air with those close to you.
October 9: Mercury at 11 Degrees Scorpio Quincunx Saturn at 11 Degrees Scorpio/Aries. Take a break from tasks that require focused concentration as your mind is prone to slip into overload status now. In addition, when Mercury is quincunx Saturn, you are apt to see all of the reasons why something won’t work. A healthy dose of gratitude will help you make needed changes without the Saturn negativity.
October 10: New Moon at 17 Degrees 21 Minutes Libra at 5:31 PM EST. Venus Square Mars at 7 Degrees Scorpio/Leo. Jupiter at 21 Degrees Leo Sextile the New Moon. The Libra New Moon is about connection, balance, harmony and settling differences in a win-win manner. Libra’s ruler, Venus, is retrograde in Scorpio asking us to delve deeply into any relationship issues Jupiter in Leo is at the same degree as the August 12 solar eclipse. It promises new possibilities and opportunities, especially through the helpful connection with others.
October 13: Sun at 20 Degrees Libra Sesiquiquadrate Uranus at 5 Degrees Gemini. You may be feeling extra restless today. Its best to curb your impatience and, rather, use this uncomfortable energy to push you towards making any needed changes. You may get sudden insights into unusual solutions to any problems under this aspect.
October 16: Mars Trine Saturn at 10 Degrees Leo/Aries. Venus Quincunx Uranus at 5 Degrees Scorpio/Gemini. Mars trine Saturn requires discipline and endurance, because delays are possible. Meanwhile, Venus quincunx Uranus can bring an exciting project to light. You may feel like you need to control things when Mars is trine Saturn coupled with Venus quincunx Uranus. Relax, let the tension from not knowing dissipate and just go with the flow.
October 16: Pluto Turns Direct at 3 Degrees Aquarius. Pluto has been retrograde since May 6. It brought a five-month time of heavy soul searching and deep introspection. Pluto direct allows you to put the positive aspects of that soul searching to practical use. It is now time to begin the changes to upgrade your life in tune with who you are now, not who you were, or who others wish you to be.
October 19-20: Sun Trine North Node at 26 Degrees Libra/Aquarius. Venus Square Pluto at 3 Degrees Scorpio/Aquarius. There is a mixed bag of energy now. The Sun trine the North Node can bring unexpected opportunities if either the Sun or the North Node fall on one of your planets near 26 degrees of Libra or Aquarius. Examine and repair any relationship issues when Venus is square Pluto.
October 21: Sun Opposition Chiron at 28 Degrees Libra/Aries. Venus Quincunx Neptune at 2 Degrees Scorpio/Aries. The Sun Opposition Chiron in the signs of Libra (Sun) and Aries (Chiron) brings up wounding issues around independence versus relationships. Some common issues with this configuration is that someone in your life did not honor your independence and individuality or, vice versa, someone was overly independent and you felt neglected because of that. Venus quincunx Neptune can bring a certain amount of disillusion when reality doesn’t live up to your idealistic expectations.
October 23: Sun Enters Scorpio Conjunct Venus at Zero Degrees Scorpio. Avoid drama and secrets when the Sun is conjunct Venus in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio is auspicious for love and affection. Your feelings for a loved one may deepen under this aspect, so long as there are no hidden agendas or control issues in the relationship.
October 24: Mercury Turns Retrograde at 21 Degrees Scorpio. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio until November 13, brings heightened emotions and deep soul searching and introspection. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is an excellent time to seek psychological counseling if you feel the need.
October 25: Venus Enters Libra. Sun Quincunx Neptune at 2 Degrees Scorpio/Aries. Venus retrogrades back into Libra giving you more time to work on any money or relationship issues. Venus turns direct on November 15, allowing you to take positive steps to resolve any such issues.
October 26: Full Moon at 2 Degrees 43 Minutes Taurus. Moon Conjunct Chiron. Sun Square Pluto at 3 Degrees Scorpio/Aquarius. It’s back to basics under this full Moon in Taurus. Taurus is ruled by Venus so love, finances and security are in the front of your mind now. The Moon with Chiron may bring up old, emotional fears, drama and wounding, but within that wounding, the Venus connection will go a long way toward healing. Taurus rules healing earth energy, so make time to hug a tree or to just rejoice in the beauty of nature.
The Sun square Pluto is a challenging aspect that brings pressure from both outside yourself and within yourself. Be careful in your interactions today with others, especially those in authority. Everyone is feeling tense and overwhelmed. Machines may react to all of the tension by malfunctioning.
October 28: Sun Quincunx Uranus at 4 Degrees Scorpio/Gemini. Venus Opposition Chiron at 28 Degrees Libra/Aries. Mars at 16 Degrees Leo Sesiquiquadrate Neptune at 2 Degrees Aries. Sun quincunx Uranus is known for bringing out feelings of restlessness and the desire to revolt. Additionally, the desire to escape is strong when Mars is sesiquiquadrate Neptune. Venus opposition Chiron is especially useful in helping you break away from painful relationships. Use this energy to shake yourself loose from those people and things that are not good for you.
October 30: Mercury Square Mars at 18 Degrees Scorpio/Leo. Be careful with this one. Mercury square Mars may leave you feeling touchy and irritable and prone to rehashing old grievances. Even more concerning, is that you are prone to projecting such feelings onto others now, leading to unnecessary confrontations. You are also more prone to accidents and fires now. Be especially mindful while walking or driving, as hostility and aggressiveness are often expressions of Mercury square Mars. This aspect is short lived, thank goodness, and will start to dissipate by November 1.
