Gemini Full Moon Lunar Eclipse – December 21, 2010

The full moon lunar eclipse of December 21, 2010 highlights the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, which brings in the themes of communication, education, higher thought, intelligence and the more negative energies of fanaticism, arrogance, overindulgence, rationalization, duplicity and amorality.

Because the Moon and the Sun are both at the all-important 29 degrees of their respective signs (Moon 29Gemini20 and Sun 29Sagittarius20) an urgent message of change is part of the mix. Any planet or light at 29 degrees of a sign brings endings and change. Something has matured and is no longer needed. It is time to transform something or to end it and to build something new. However, it is wise to be aware that a planet at 29 degrees can cause a person to waiver, to go back and forth and to evaluate and re-evaluate endlessly, until finally, exhausted with the decision making process, that person may just make a rash and hasty decision to change things without using rational thought.

Then too, all eclipses bring in a time of change, a time to correct our course and move forward in a new or altered way toward our goals. This lunar eclipse asks us to take a long, hard look at the issues in our life that are holding us back or that are keeping us from fulfilling our destiny and to make decisions about a more positive, life-affirming way of meeting those challenges.

This particular lunar eclipse becomes even more powerful because of its location near the galactic center at 26 degrees Sagittarius. (See my previous article on Pluto when it was located at the Galactic center before entering Capricorn.) The lunar eclipse location near the powerful Galactic center magnifies and adds power and focus to the energies already being manifested.

It is also noteworthy that the eclipse opposition of the Moon and Sun are square the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Because Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, the sign that holds the Sun during this eclipse, the themes of compassion (Pisces) and truth (Jupiter) are very much in focus. Uranus brings unexpected change like a lightning bolt and new ways of thinking and acting.

In short, this lunar eclipse brings an unprecedented opportunity to bring about a new way of being with regard to others with whom we share Mother Earth. We are called to act in a higher, more authentic way (Jupiter) and to keep our mind on the oneness of all beings (Pisces). Indeed, in light of the world situation at this time, this lunar eclipse presents an opportune time for each of us to focus on this spirit of oneness with all others.

Many blessings to each of you who read this and take up the challenge of this eclipse—to give away those things that are no longer needed or helpful, and to bring to the world a spirit of loving, truthful compassion for all beings.

Thank you for this illuminating commentary on the lunar eclipse underway. It coincides rather closely with my natal moon sign of Gemini in disseminating phase. The eclipse opposes my natal Venus in Sagittarius so I am wondering how this will play out for me, however, I am grateful for the commentary you provided and for the blessings you have presented. Thank you so much and have a wonderful holiday season!

    • Ruby

Yes, it will definitely have some effect on you. Look to see what houses in your birth chart that it hits. That will tell you in what area of your life that it will have the most impact.

  • Kaylm

Interesting yes. That falls (29 degrees Gemini) in the middle of my 7th house and I have natal Sun/Mercury/Jupiter/Mars all in Gemini.
    Wondering what will transform.

    • Ruby

It is impossible to really tell without knowing your full birth chart. However, it is certain that the 1st house (self and ego self) versus the 7th house (relationships of all kinds) will be a focus. With so many planets in the 7th, relationships or the lack thereof have always been a major area of learning for you. It will be a very good time to review how you are doing with regard to healthy self preservation versus giving of yourself in relationships. Are you giving too much? Not enough? etc.

  • Gail

I have Neptune in Virgo at 29’55 in my 3rd house. Needless to say, I am very anxious about this eclipse with the Gemini/Sag axis squaring it plus the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction opposing it. I’ve gone through some difficult years and am seriously considering leaving the U.S. and moving to France, by myself, if some financial resources materialize for me to do so! I can sure feel Pluto in Cap’s energy! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

  • Charlotte

If my Moon is in Gemini, does this eclipse have more of a significance for me?

    • Ruby

If your Moon is between 20 degrees Gemini and 9 or so degrees Cancer the eclipse moon/eclipse sun axis would be within orb of your Gemini moon and it would have a significant effect. The applying aspect 20 degrees Gemini to 29 degrees 55 minutes Gemini would have more of an impact. The area of your life that it will impact depends on the house of the chart in which it is located. As always, you can’t tell for sure how something will play out without seeing the whole chart.

  • bb19

My son is a Sag. Sag. rising with a Gamini Moon, Hope he has a fun playdate that day or something!! lol!

    • Ruby

Your son must be a cool little guy. I’ll bet you are kept busy answering his questions with his boundless curiosity. I hope he has a wonderful birthday.

  • Jale

I was born On ___ the sun in Sagittarius 29°43’02 in house 12 at the time of my birth, and Gemini is my 6th house . I just hate eclipses because they end all my relationships , and I’m wondering if that will be the case this time 🙁

    • Ruby

      Hello Jale,

Thanks for your comment. I have removed the birth date from your comment for security reasons. The thing everyone needs to remember is that every eclipse is very different. Each eclipse is part of a series of eclipses that are called the Saros series. So, in addition to having a certain flavor by transit each one also carries a flavor from the Saros series to which it belongs.

This particular eclipse is more about communication, service, work, etc. Because your Sun is in the 12th it will also prompt you to deal with things from the past that you have not yet fully confronted. That is actually a good thing as long as you do the work required.

As far as losing relationships, the eclipse of June 26, 2010, which occurred on the Cancer/Capricorn axis, very well could have caused relationship problems for you because of your Cancer 7th house. It was a very emotional time for many.

  • Lisa

My sun is at 29 degrees Gemini in the 7th house. My rising sign is 7 degrees Sagittarius. I’m wondering how the eclipse will affect my 7th house as I tend to feel Mercury retrograde pretty strongly to begin with. I know that lunar eclipses are not as strong as solar eclipses but this one hits at the exact degree of my sun. Does that matter?—Chart info..Jun 20 1970, 6:47pm, in Raleigh, NC

    • Ruby

Yes, the closer the aspect the more you will feel it. I rather disagree that lunar eclipses are not as strong as solar. It depends on what the sun and moon are hitting in a chart, the house and so on. Many, many of my clients had a very rough time with the Cancer/Capricorn lunar eclipse on June 26, 2010, while they sailed through the solar eclipse that came a couple of weeks later. In the first, there was an opposition of the Sun and Moon with the Moon in Capricorn. The moon doesn’t do well in Capricorn (emotional moon in an “all business” sign. In the second case, both the moon and sun were in Cancer so they at least were compatible (the ego self combined with the feeling self).

Anyway, in your case Mercury retrograde will pretty much affect you as it always has. It affects you more strongly than some others because you have fairly strong Mercury energy in your chart. At the eclipse Mercury is moving away from your sun (a separating conjunction) so it is not as involved in the eclipse dynamics as it would have been if moving forward over the Sun. You will feel the eclipse in any close relationships (not just intimate partners). Watch what you say for a week or so before and afterward as you may be more apt to say something you later regret (Sag sun opposing Gemini Sun). Also, you and those close to you may be more emotional than usual. You will have natal Pluto in the 10th square the eclipse. Be especially careful of what you say at work and in public also.

  • Lisa

Thank you so much for replying. It’s funny, but I’m already picking up on that whole feeling of needing to be careful in what I say to others. I have been feeling the need to withdrawal from others a bit and just lay low til some of this energy passes. This is probably because I have already said some things that I wish I hadn’t. In the past two weeks, I have said several things and immediately got that feeling in pit of my stomach. The past ten-twelve years of my life have been filled with some pretty heavy planetary influences, Pluto and Saturn included. I’ve come a long way, but I’m restless and starting to step out of my comfort zone a bit and beginning to interact with others more. I have mixed feelings about Pluto. I believe I’ve been transformed in some pretty amazing ways over the past ten years by Pluto’s energy, but change did not come easy with Pluto. It was a dark journey through my first house, but so worth it! Pluto squares and oppositions are not new to me. Saturn is also transiting my 10th house, now. I believe Saturn’s rewards are coming, as I have risen to it’s challenges. Saturn’s journey from my 7th house to my 10th has been as much about my relationship with myself as it has been about my relationships with others. I do believe I’m still at a critical point in the conclusion of this period of transition through this section of my chart with my relationships with others and with myself. My Capricorn moon does makes me very emotional in all areas of my life, and that’s not always appropriate in every area of my life. I have been too emotionally open with some people lately in a way that makes me feel very vulnerable to them. My Capricorn moon is also in my 2nd house and worry about money has always been an issue. I’m feeling an intense need to release being controlled my financial circumstances and relationships. I need money cause it makes paying bills easier, but I loathe it. I see how ugly it makes people, and I’d rather bee poor than to be like them. At the end of the day, I am learning to surrender it all to God. He never ceases to amaze me, in extraordinary ways, with all he’s created in the universe, and the beautiful way that he guides me. —Thanks Again.

    • Ruby

Thanks for the feedback on how the transiting planets have affected you. You might also consider that any time your moon in the 2nd is aspected that you may be considering and re-considering your core values in addition to your values around money. Wishing you the best.

  • Cylla

Thank you very much for a very good explanation and view on this lunar eclipse. I am wondering how me ad my twin sister is affected with a Sag moon 28 degree in the 11th house, about to be squared again by Uranus and Jupiter in the second ?? From a still grounded Taurus 😉 thank you!

    • Ruby

Your 11th/5th axis will be activated. Most likely creative ventures and/or children will be highlighted. It may be time to reevaluate your hopes and wishes and update them. Doing so or not doing so could have an effect on the money you earn (Uranus and Jupiter in 2nd). It very well may be a good time to shake things up in those departments. Have such matters become stale?

  • Linda

My moon is at I believe 24 degrees in Gemini in the 12th house, with Cancer rising, 17 degrees in the 1st house, and Sun in Aries at 19 degrees in the 10th house. Usually I would read a horoscope for both the sun sign and rising sign but wonder how this lunar eclipse on the 21st in Gemini will affect me….Jupiter is in pic 3 degrees 9th house uran is in Leo 26th degrees in 2nd house..

    • Ruby

The lunar eclipse will activate your 12th/6th house axis so issues pertaining to those houses would be highlighted. With the moon in the 12th house you may have had a hard time expressing your emotions or, with the moon in Gemini, you may make light of what you do feel. A 12th house moon gives you quite a bit of intuition and empathy but it isn’t always easy to express. The 6th house part of the equation relates to your work life, service to others, health or everyday matters. Is there something that you would like to be doing (6th) that you have not allowed yourself to do that you are emotional about (moon in 12)? There could be many other explanations. In any case focus on expressing your emotions more.

  • Stella Podkin

just wondering – when was the LAST time it was a Full Moon on Winter Solstice, and when will be the NEXT time it happens? And did the last time manifest any particular happenings?

    • Ruby

I’m not sure. I looked back to the year 1900 and forward to 2050 and did not find any. A lunar eclipse in the same Saros series occurs on December 20, 2029 at 29 degrees Gemini and their is another lunar eclipse in a different Saros series on December 20, 2048 at 29 degrees Gemini. However, those dates are, of course, not on the solstice.

  • Sandy

my birth info is 08/08/1961 00:24 am atlanta I have a 29 degree taurus rising along 26 degree gemini on the 2nd house cusp, 29 degree scorpio 7th house cusp, 26 degree Sag on my 8th house cusp. mars 24 virgo in my 5th and satrun 25 cap in my ninth. Also to top it off I have a lunar return the day of the eclipse.
My moon is at 10 cancer and I have uranus at 25 degrees leo in my 4th house along with the north node and 27 leo in my 4th house which puts the south node at 27 degrees aquarius in my 10th ( MC is 10 aquarius. A lot going on this eclipse. Any thought on this would be much appreciated .Many thanks to you all

    • Ruby

The biggest things to look for are the conjunctions, oppositions and squares that the eclipse makes or sets off, then and only then look at the rest of the chart. The eclipse sun in 8th (Sag) and moon in 2nd (Gemini) are square natal Mars in your Virgo in the 5th house. That brings in a 2nd house, 5th house, and 8th house dynamic. It will set off something to do with values or money (2nd) possibly coming from someone else (8th). Are you by any chance looking for an insurance or other settlement? Also the natal Mars square the transiting Sun/Moon is also opposing Jupiter Uranus. Possible sudden happening relating to group creative endeavors, children, etc. These are guesses through looking at the chart very briefly, but hopefully you get the idea.

  • Kat

    Hi there,
I’m curious to know what you think of having surgery, on December 21st. My father is scheduled to have a second full knee replacement surgery on the 21st. The eclipse will fall in his 10th house (the 12/5 New Moon was conjunct his IC), but what concerns me is that the the lunar eclipse will be conjunct my ascendant (27 deg, 51), squaring my natal Virgo Sun (22 deg, 40), Venus (27 deg, 56) & Pluto (29 deg, 17) in the 4th house of home. Although, the lunar eclipse conjunct my ascendant could have had to do more with my grandmother dying, on 11/21, exactly 1 month prior to the 12/21 eclipse.

  • Sandi

The eclipse falls on my natal jupiter in gemini in the 5th house. What does this mean to a aquarius rising virgo?

    • Ruby

I don’t have enough infomartion for a good answer. Generally the eclipse on Jupiter in gemini in the 5th house would cause a lot of action around love affairs, creativity, children, etc. Due to the polarity there would be activity in the 11th house – hopes and wishes, groups, friends, etc. There is much more to the chart than this, so this is very much a partial answer.

My birthday is on December 21st. As this is the winter solstice AND there’s going to be a full lunar eclipse, I’m slightly nervous. Can anyone tell me how this might effect me?

  • nova_1221

Holz, My birthday is the 21st too! I have been thinking the same thing! so strange

  • Sue

This eclipse in conjunct Uranus in my 8th house (2 degree orb). It also squares my Pisces Moon which is being hit by transitting Jupiter and Uranus. Should I hide?

    • Ruby

There could be some fluctuations and possible sudden changes in your money or your partners money. This is not necessarily bad it could be either good or bad or both. Your creativity, intuition and psychic ability will be highlighted. Once again, with Uranus in the mix, watch for sudden insights.

  • jfrash79

My birthday is May 13, 1979 but I can’t seem to find which house the eclipse will be in can you tell me and how it may effect me? Is this a bad or good eclipse?

    • Ruby

You didn’t leave your birth time or place, so I can’t look up what house the eclipse will be in. However, just looking up your birthday, you have no planets at or near 29 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) so this eclipse will most likely not have a big impact on you. There were some trines and sextiles that showed up but normally they would not cause a big impact.

  • Sylvia

This upcoming eclipse freaking me out. My moon is 26 degrees Gemini (at the end of my sixth house), my venus is 26 degrees Sag (at the end of my 12th house) and my ascendant is 27 degrees Sag. My husband’s venus is in Gemini at 26 degrees, moon is 29 degrees Gemini (both is 7th house). We’ll be married 2 years next week and have been together 7 years. Anyone have any insight to share (and ease my anxiety)?

    • Ruby

What a lovely thing for your moon and your husband’s moon and venus to have that contact in the 7th house. Because your moon at the end of the sign it carries the energy over into the next house. I wouldn’t worry about this eclipse. What a good opportunity to sit down with your husband and have a loving discussion about where your relationship has been, what you need to change and your goals for the future. The eclipse falling in your first house will also have an impact on how you appear to others. You may decide to change your appearance in some way.

  • jfrash79

Astroherb – could you tell me if one of your responses was in relation to my question above and if so which response it was? and by the way if it was the first one birthplace is new orleans, la. time unknown. thanks!!

    • Ruby

I believe this was the reply I sent before:

You didn’t leave your birth time or place, so I can’t look up what house the eclipse will be in. However, just looking up your birthday, you have no planets at or near 29 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) so this eclipse will most likely not have a big impact on you. I am unable to tell what area of your life it will affect you without a valid time. The moon moves very fast, so without a valid time it is impossible to tell without a birth time or rectified birth time. I’m sorry.

  • Sheryl

My sun is 18 degrees leo in the 7th house, 12 degree capricorn ascendant and 3 degree Aquarian moon. The eclipse will fall in my 6th house conjunct my 24 degree jupiter…. What are your thoughts on the happenings of this eclipse for me?

    • Ruby

Sheryl, the eclipse Moon is in a separating conjunction to your natal Jupiter and the eclipse Sun is in your 12th house. Your house of work, service, and health are highlighted (6th) so it would be a beneficial time to make changes in that area. Let go of those things that are no longer working and prepare for new energy to come in. The 12th house eclipse Sun also points to letting go of those things that have kept you in bondage. What has been keeping you tied up and unable to move as you wish–i.e. old attitudes, responsibilities, fears, etc.?

  • jfrash79

No worries thank you for replying with which response it was!! It looked like it could have been the 1st or 2nd response you posted! But again thank you for your insight!

  • Silvija

Hi! Well I have a question too 🙂 I was born in Croatia /Sisak/ 18 march 1979 18.55h. I know that eclipse will fall in my H9 in Gem. activating travel, education… Butt I`m so intrested will this eclipse touch my career in any way, will there be any changes? I`m ready for them! Any advice would be more than appreciated! Thank you very much! (sorry for any misspelling,my english is not so good) 🙂

    • Ruby

The Gemini full moon lunar eclipse will touch your 6th house of work and service as it squares your natal Sun in that house and also transiting Uranus/Jupiter in Pisces in the 6th house. So, your work conditions will very likely be changing. It could even be a sudden change, but would be beneficial. Remember also, that regarding aspects we must always look at the axis. So, in this case, the eclipse sun in Sagittarius in the third house must also be looked at. That would point to lots of short trips, communication, teaching, etc.

Also, the Capricorn solar eclipse on January 4, 2011, will be in a separating conjunction with your natal Mars, and square transiting Saturn and natal Pluto in Libra in your first house. Think about changing your appearance in some way to make yourself more marketable. Saturn and Pluto in the 1st may have you a little beaten down. Make the effort to refresh your appearance for the best results in the coming six months.

I am feeling these effects (Eclipse and Merc Retro) VERY strongly … I realize some of the reasons but am wondering about the final decision I may make re a relationship. We have been together for 15 years and just married on July 11 (solar eclipse).

I have a Cap Sun, I have a Pisces Rising (some say Aries) and Pisces Moon.
My mate is a Cancer with a Capricorn Rising. I am not sure of his moon but I believe it is Aquarius.

There is more … including HUGE shock/ surprise we have already experienced re a child this week.
For me there is finally the CLARITY re my husband and his wounds and issues re pregnancy and children … or maybe women and trust in those situations.
I feel I have made huge mistakes in this area and waisted a lot of time (maybe too much)… wish I knew then what I do now.
I am wavering back and forth between seeing this as a huge opportunity to heal … or facing the truth that we have severe communication issues that need to change drastically … but I fear his personality is what it is and that is not possible.
I feel VERY very sad and ready to make a break. Will I?

    • Ruby

You didn’t give your year of birth so I am unable to give you a definitive answer. Generally, I would urge you not to make any decision until well after Mercury goes direct and the eclipses are over as eclipses (lunar eclipses in particular) tend to make us very emotional. Decisions made now may be rash and not well thought out.

If you want to resend your comment with the full birth information, I will be happy to look at it.

  • Lynn

Hi! Could you please help! I’m sort of new to astrology and trying to understand this eclipse deal.. Could you PLEASE help me! My birthday is 4/22/1983 and i was born at 6:17am in dayton ohio. What does this eclipse mean for me? I have been struggling since i’ve been on my own taking care of my two children and im TIRED of struggling! Is there light at the end of my tunnel?

  • Josefina

Thank you for such a prompt response from Dec.11. I will definitely make no decisions now … or speak of them … thanks.
My birthdate with year is December 23, 1960 (11:45a in Chicago, Illinois) and my mste’s is July 4, 1958 (3:00p in East Orange, NJ).

Please again remove the dates when posting and
    Thank you !

I am resending this info with birth year included …

Our birth info: Me: female – born 11:45a December 23, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois
He: born 3:00p, July 4, 1958 in East Orange, New Jersey.

I feel I have made huge mistakes in this area (children and babies) and waisted a lot of time (maybe too much)… wish I knew then what I do now. It has been the only issue between us but VERY unclear for years … until this eclipse.

I am wavering back and forth between seeing this as a huge opportunity to heal … or facing the truth that we have severe communication issues that need to change drastically … but I fear his personality is what it is and that may not be possible.
Really want to know if he will embrace healing from the children/babies issue and be open to it now (birth or adoption) … after the eclipse. Until now, it has been muddy and I feel a serious wound.
I feel VERY very sad and ready to make a break. Will I?

    Thank you!

  • Deidre

Finding all your advice amazing Astro-herb, just wondering if this eclispe will be as powerfull in the sothern hemsphere, asIam in Australia and am Gemini moon , virgo sun and sagittarius ascendent. Born 23rd september at 8.45am 1959. Ive always found eclipses to have a very powerfull effect on someone. Any feedback would be great . thankyou for being generous with your time. Deidre

    • Ruby

Deidre, I didn’t have your place of birth so couldn’t pull an exact chart. What did really stand out was that the eclipse axis highlights your Virgo Sun with an out of sign opposition to your 4 degree Aries North Node. This could be the year that you begin work to fulfill your destiny in this life time (North Node). That certainly is profound!

  • Didem

I am feeling the effects of the eclipses so much..I would like to know which pairs of eclipses effect me most–this one or upcoming ones?
22 June 1982 4 am. Izmir Turkey (summer time)
sun cancer, moon cancer, asc gemini
    thnx in advance 😉

    • Ruby

Didem. I think you have been feeling the transiting planets going over your 6th house Pluto in Libra and Jupiter in Scorpio. It seems like there might have been some pressure in the area of work, but ultimately with a good outcome; also shows some fluctuations or sudden changes in your relationships. The lunar eclipse touches your Sun at 00 Cancer in the 2nd house of earnings and values and opposes Neptune in Sagittarius in your 8th house. The Capricorn solar eclipse will square Saturn in Libra in your 6th house of work (lots of hard work). Your work life continues to be aspected. This could be challenging, but the ultimate outcome is good. The eclipse also touches your North Node in Cancer in the third house and the South Node in Capricorn in the 9th house. The Nodes are important in that your destiny in this life is being brought to your attention. Time to quit acting out of unproductive habit patterns and move toward your destiny in this life (think nurturing communications and your need to nurture and be nurtured).

  • Dina

Thanks for articles and would be greatly appreciated for any advise re eclipses, what does this mean to a Libra ( 10-15-57, birthtime unknown) born in Azerbaijan, Baku.
    Best regards!

    • Ruby

Hello Dina, The Gemini full moon lunar eclipse will most likely not be significant for you. However, the Capricorn solar eclipse on January 4, 2011, highlights your rolling stellium of Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Sun in the 9th and 10th houses of your chart. It starts a time of forward movement with regard to your career and/or public standing and possibly some type of education, or higher mind activities (philosophy, religion, metaphysics, etc.). Whatever it is, use your cardinal attributes (leadership, moving forward, action) to make things happen.

  • Dil

with natal Sun in 29 degrees Sag and natal Moon in 24 degrees Sag (both in house 5, Leo ascendant), and let’s not forget the lovely Mercury in retro travelling between them, I suspect this eclipse will present quite a challenging time for me…What kind of changes can I expect to face?

    • Ruby

Dil, the 5th house rules love affairs, children, creativity, and expressing yourself as an individual. The 5th house planets are in a nice trine to your Leo ascendant. It seems it would be a good time to express more Leo playfulness and creativity. Remember trines are easy energy and they slip right by us if we don’t use them.

  • Pamela

Birth Info – 19.06.1947 11am Sydney Australia – Gemini sun and new Gemini moon and Virgo ascendant.
I have relationship woes with a Scorpio – relationship began around 1993. Any advice would be very gratefully received. Best Festive Wishes
    to everyone.

    • Ruby

Hi Pamela, First of all, you are a strongly mutable person with a lot of planets in Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces, while Scorpio is a very fixed sign. With the eclipse highlighting your mutable planets you are in a period of change and acceleration in your career and public standing. The more a Scorpio feels threatened, the more they dig in their heels. Also, transiting Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces in your 7th house of relationships are being highlighted by the eclipse. You are in an intense time of evaluating the benefits (Jupiter) of the relationship while fighting the need for more freedom (Uranus). I would imagine this all became more intense when Venus first went retrograde around the end of October. The challenge is: can you spread your wings (highlighted 10th house) while staying in the relationship and, if not, which is more important to you relationship or career?

  • Brendan

Hello, I was born June the 7th 1989 in Vanuatu at 7.00pm, I would really like to know how this eclipse might bring me news or information regarding my career, as I am an actor.

    • Ruby

Brendan, The Gemini full moon lunar eclipse falls in your 6th house of work in an applying, out of sign conjunction to Venus and Chiron in Cancer. That would indicate letting go of fears and past hurts regarding your career and just keep moving forward to the best of your ability. However, see my article on the Capricorn solar eclipse on January 4, 2011. That eclipse will highlight your Capricorn ascendant, and Neptune and Saturn in Capricorn in your 1st house of self. Neptune rules acting. Saturn indicates the need to put a firm foundation under something. As the traditional ruler of Capricorn it is very strong in Capricorn. What all this means, is that you need to renew your efforts, let go of any illusions about your career, focus on your self presentation and strive to put a solid foundation under your career. By the way, those planets and the eclipse are also highlighting your 10th house of career in Libra. Renew your efforts in a focused way for more success.

I came across your post because I am meeting someone new on this day 12/21/10 and was curious if there were any cosmic ramifications to this date. This is someone I have only communicated with via the internet and text. Ours is an unlikely friendship as we come from two different worlds and our physical meeting will either end our friendship entirely or change it into something new.

    My birthday is 9/21/82

At my birthtime my sun was in virgo at exactly 28°28’28” in the 10th house.

Saggitarius is my Acendant and Gemini my Decendant (7°26’14”)

I have no idea what any of this means…I’m just reading it off a report I had done. I never noticed the 28’s before…or I guess the 10’s if you deduce it. Strange.

I know you are probably busy, but if you could tell me what you think of this meeting date as it pertains to me astrologically-I’d much appreciate it!

    • Ruby

      Hello Jennifer,

Neptune at 24 degrees Gemini is square your Sun in Virgo in the 10th house in your natal chart. Your Sun in Virgo is also trine Chiron in Taurus. The Gemini full moon lunar eclipse will be in opposition to your first house Neptune at 24 degrees Sagittarius. Because Neptune can bring confusion and make you prone to looking at things through rose colored glasses, I would caution you to use your Virgo powers of perception with regard to this potential relationship. With Chiron in the picture you need to use your head not your heart in evaluating this person. Good luck.

  • Jennifer

oh, and my birthtime is 12:15pm Los Altos, CA (los angeles area)in case you need that.

  • Quince

Hi, I’ve also have been feeling anxious and not looking forward to this Mercury retrograde during the holidays and then especially the full lunar eclipse on the 21st. I have a Gemini Sun 24 degrees/11th house; Virgo moon 25 degrees/3rd house; mercury 2 degrees Gemini/10th house; Venus in Cancer 3 degrees/11th; Uranus in Leo 0/12 house; Jupiter & Pluto in Leo conj. 26 degrees/1st house; Leo rising 14 degrees; Neptune in Libra 27deg./3rd house; saturn in scorpio 27deg./4th house. I dabble in astrology, but would like your opinion. I’ve enjoyed your blog and have found interest in what you’ve said to others. I know that I need to shut up and listen, oh boy do I, but any other ramifications? Thanks.

    • Ruby

Quince, I doubt if the upcoming lunar or solar eclipse are anything to worry about. The main contact is, of course, to your Gemini Sun at 24 degrees and your Virgo Moon at 25 degrees. The eclipse is at 29 degrees so it will be in a separating aspect to your Sun and Moon. However, you may feel the energy prior to the actual eclipse. The eclipse may create some challenges having to do with friends, groups and your hopes and wishes (11th) and also with lots of short trips, communications, classes, siblings, etc. I would imagine that Mercury retrogrades are felt quite strongly by you because of your Gemini Sun and Virgo Moon and the emphasis on your third house. However, Mercury normally is more annoying than significantly detrimental.

WOW im so pumped now because its my b-day Dec 21st but should i be excited or nervous??

    ANY INPUT???

    • Ruby

      Hello Skype,

Happy birthday. I think that is rather cool to have your birthday on the solstice with an eclipse! I don’t think the eclipse is any cause for you to worry, but it is significant for you. The eclipse is right on the midpoint of your natal Sun and North Node (and of course conjunct them) in your 2nd house of resources, security and how you earn your money. It is opposing Saturn (out of sign in Cancer) and South Node in the eighth house of other peoples money, insurance, taxes and your partners money. Because of the nodal involvement it is a strong message to let go of those ways of earning money that are no longer working for you and to dare to step out into working with those areas of life that really excite you. Is it possible that you are doing something with your life that you are only doing to please others. Think along these lines to figure out what you need to give up and what you need to embrace to work with the energy of the eclipse. Enjoy your birthday!!

  • Lisa

Hi, I was born on 7/31/78 at 9:21 am. This eclipse is my birth moon. I feel like something really intense in on the way. What should I look out for in terms of career and relationships – I just got a new position at my company 2 weeks ago.

    • Ruby

Hi Lisa, You didn’t tell me where you were born so I couldn’t draw up an exact chart. However, as I have previously said, the birth moon describes what we need to make us happy. I believe that the eclipse will certainly highlight this concept Spend some time thinking about what really makes you happy and try to work those concepts into your job as it progresses. Hopefully your new career has something to do with communications. Your Moon squares your Virgo planets (Venus, Mars and North Node). Your ideas around organization, order, and perfection may be challenged. I believe the intensity you are feeling is the karmic implications of the North and South Nodes. This job may help you fulfill your destiny in this life, but will challenge you to move forward in ways that do not feel entirely comfortable. I can’t address relationships because I don’t know which planets fall in your 7th house (no birth place). Good luck – it should be an important year!

  • Keet

    Hey There,

Like everyone else, I’m curious to know how the eclipse will affect me as well. I already know quite a bit about astrology, but I have to say, I really don’t know what to expect. The eclipse is occurring in my 4th house and its is almost conjunct my natal Jupiter with less than one degree (My Jupiter is on the cusp of the 4th and 5th houses, but interpreted as being in my 5th house). What do you think I should we aware of during this eclipse period? My birthday: January 1st, 1978 – 9:34am – New Orleans, LA

    • Ruby

Keet, The eclipse seems to be challenging you to examine your creative side, your hopes and wishes and to somehow be more at one with the world. Notice that your moon at 00 degrees Libra in the 8th is in an out of sign square to your natal Jupiter. It is calling for you to honor your moon (your true heart’s desire and what you need to make you happy). Moon in Libra points to a love of beauty, harmony, etc. Then 29 degrees Sag Moon falls just in your 11th house (and in some ways connects the 10th and 11th house) and also puts a focus on your 11th house Venus. Also note that your intercepted Pisces in the 1st is being highlighted. It connects your first house of self with your 2nd house of values. Without spending a lot of time on it, I would put forth the idea that there could be some sort of creative or philosophical venture that you wish start or be involved in. What do you think?

  • rabbit

Hi – my birth date is Sept. 13 ’78 at 5:13am in Southern California. I’ve become very nervous of eclipses…it’s been a very very bumpy year for me, and I thought the worst was over, but from what I can gather, it looks like this eclipse is going to affect my career most (zoinks!). Any thoughts, suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!! 🙂

    • Ruby

Rabbit, I didn’t have your birth city so used San Diego (for southern CA). According to that chart the eclipse would be in your 10th house of career all right, but it does not aspect a planet there so will not be strongly felt in that area. It does conjunct your north node (27 Virgo in 1st house) and south node (27 Pisces in 7th house). That would denote letting go of habit patterns relating to giving too much or idealizing your partner too much in relationships and to be more discriminating when it comes to relationships. Eclipses are not necessarily bad as many people think, but they do often cause changes.

  • Christine

I was wondering how this would affect a court date that I have on the 21st. My birthdate is June 12, ’79 at 2:59p in Los Angeles. I do know that it will involve a lot of change and hopefully a true end to something with some closure.
Any additional insights you can share would be great.

    • Ruby

Christine, you do not have any planets that are strongly aspected by the eclipse. However, Mercury, Sun, North Node, Pluto and Mars are all transiting through your 9th house of justice on that day. Mercury and Sun are favorable, while Pluto and Mars are questionable. Transiting Venus is conjunct your natal Uranus in the 7th house, which rules jury verdicts, lawyers and the plaintiff. Some question how it will come out since I’m not sure if you are the plaintiff or defendant. In any case, the 7th house aspects could point to a guardedly favorable outcome, but with some unexpected news or outcome.

  • InPain

Thanks for this article. My husband is Virgo (Aug 30, 1968) and I just found out he had been emotionally attached to his first love for all 16 years of our marriage and still keep in touch with her and visits her.Due to this eclipse, all this information is coming out and I am scared to find out more about it. My marriage is over and it hurts like hell. My BD is Aug 10/69. Please comment.

    • Ruby

InPain, I’m so sorry for your pain in hearing the news about your marriage. I think part of what makes it really hard is that you have Saturn in Taurus in the 7th house of marriage. To you, marriage is something you take very seriously and you were in it for the long haul through thick and thin. However, that Saturn is not significantly aspected by any of your husbands planets. I feel that your relationship has also been a bit of a battlefield. His Pluto (power issues) is tightly conjunct your South Node. This would indicate that were somewhat acclimated to power issues through the past (past life or past in this life, you choose). In addition your Uranus/Jupiter conjunction is conjunct his Mercury/Uranus so it is more of the same. This indicates that each of you has, in some way, kept a part of himself back from any kind of commitment (Uranus) probably because of the Pluto contacts. All in all, I feel that the relationship has always been problematic. As painful as his betrayal is, it will free you to find someone who is more in tune with what you really need in a relationship. I hope this helps; I know it is very hard to be betrayed.

      • InPain

Thanks for the Reply. We decided to work on our marriage and rebuild trust. His Ex is not in this country and he says there was nothing going on except friendship. Do I believe him?? NO. But we have both been thru so much together and marriage was strong and happy before this. We decided to give it another chance and says there is nobody else in his life more important than his family. He says I am the only one who loves and ex is more like a friend. Even though I am in so much pain, I need to give it a chance to see if this relationship gets better. Thanks for your input. Oh, not sure if it helps but both of us were born in India.

      • Ruby

InPain, good luck with working on your marriage. I really appreciate your letting me know what is going on. It helps me become a better astrologer and I can send you a few good thoughts.

I too am curious about how this eclipse will effect me, I’ve had probably the hardest past year and a half yet. My birthday is August 12th, 1993 and I was born in Yonkers, NY. Anything you can tell me? Thank you!

  • olivia

Correction, I was born in New York, NY! Sorry about that

I’m anxious to find out what it means for both me and my husband.

I was born 0ct 1, 1978 in Torrance, Ca, which makes me a Libra. No time listed.

My husband was borth July 26th, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV, which makes him a Leo. No time listed.

    Thanks so much!

  • Keet

Wow that’s very insightful! I think you may be spot on!

I won the opportunity to work as a paid intern for a TV station and am doing that work and learning more about TV marketing now. But it doesn’t pay as much as my previous job at all (I was laid off in July around the peak of this year’s T-Square). I am also trying to study Interior design so that I can transition to that in the future (this is where my heart is). I currently work in marketing and it’s helping me pay to go back to school. I recently was called for a marketing management job for a yoga products company. And that interview is on Dec 30th. I totally believe in the mind/body connection that yoga and meditation help foster. I really want this job, but I have doubts about my abilities at times. I know I’m at marketing management level, I just feel like my chances for getting this position have constantly been blocked in the past (and the chance to have a great salary as well!!!) and I’m afraid that will happen again. This job will probably give me the income needed to go back to school at night. But, may also provide a time challenge as well…So much to think about and I haven’t even had the interview!

I feel like my life is in the air and I’m not sure where everything will settle. Probably due to Uranus transiting in my 1st house I guess…
