Astrology Transits September 2018 – New Hope and Action

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches on the soul and sings the tune

Without the words and never stops at all. – Emily Dickinson

August is gone, school has started, and we now begin to shift into fall mode, I have been reflecting a bit about the hot, challenging summer that we have gone through.  So many of my clients have expressed a sense of fatigue, burn-out, anger, frustration or even depression.  I too have had a challenging summer.

With five to six planets retrograde during most of the summer, it has sometimes felt as though we were slogging through mud — one step forward and two steps back.  However, Mercury and Mars are both now moving direct and Saturn will turn direct on September 6.  Pluto, Neptune and Uranus remain retrograde.  Pluto will turn direct on October 1, then Venus turns retrograde on October 4.

Mars in direct motion will get everything moving again, though vestiges of anger will remain, because Mars is still out of bounds by declination until September 23.

September brings a definite shift that allows a bit of optimism, hope and energy to resurface.  It is time to stand up on our wobbly legs and enter the good fight once again.

With a strong emphasis on Virgo planets this month we will all do well to analyze where we have fallen short and to strategically plan for how to correct our errors and move confidently forward once again.

From August 31 through September 15 Jupiter will sextile Pluto at 17-19 degrees of Scorpio/Capricorn and Saturn will trine Uranus at 2 degrees of Capricorn/Taurus.  Trines are easy energy that facilitate forward movement.  However, that easy energy will come to naught if we don’t combine it with effort.  The message is to analyze, plan and act in the first half of the month while the wind is at your back.

September 6 — Mercury moves into Virgo and Saturn turns direct at 2 degrees Capricorn.  Saturn turning direct is a big deal.  Most of us will feel this in our bones (Saturn rules bones) and in our energy field.  Saturn is a business planet so all work- and career-related endeavors should move more smoothly and confidently.  Saturn’s limitations and restrictions were emphasized when he was in his retrograde phase.  Saturn moving direct lets us take what we have learned this summer and to use that knowledge to attain our goals.  Saturn does reward hard work and sensible application of effort.

September 7-8 — Sun opposes Neptune at 15 degrees of Virgo/Pisces; Mercury trines Saturn and Uranus at 2 Virgo/Capricorn/Taurus; and Venus squares Mars at 28-29 Libra/Capricorn.  The Mercury/Saturn/Uranus grand trine in earth signs provides a beneficial shot of ease to help us move forward in a practical, grounded way.  However, that positive energy is modified by the Sun/Neptune opposition that brings an element of indecision and fuzzy thinking to the equation.  Venus square Mars in Libra/Capricorn furnishes a sense of challenge that can get us moving despite the illusory Neptunian veil.  Be cautious when approaching relationship matters as there is a strong sense of “me versus them.”

September 9 — Venus enters Scorpio on the 9th and is square Mars at 29 degrees Capricorn.  Romantic relationships are deeply scrutinized during this challenging time.  Venus rules feminine energy and Mars rules masculine energy.  There could be an internal battle between your desire for a deep connection with someone and anger and/or frustration over real or imaginary problems with the relationship.

Also, on September 11-12 — Mars enters Aquarius; while

Sun is sextile Jupiter at 18 degrees Virgo/Scorpio;

Sun is trine Pluto at 18 degrees Virgo/Capricorn;

Jupiter is sextile Pluto at 18 degrees Scorpio/Capricorn; and

Venus is opposing Uranus at 2 degrees Scorpio/Taurus.

Mars in Aquarius opens up new avenues of thought and action.  It is time to express your individuality and to re-assess matters relating to freedom (or the lack thereof).  Take time to think of what makes you unique and special.  Mars in Aquarius asks you to come out of hiding regarding the exclusive qualities only you have.  YOU have a gift to give to the world.  Mars in Aquarius will help you find that gift.

It takes courage to search for and acknowledge those gifts (Venus opposing Uranus), but the rewards are enormous — both for yourself and for those who receive your gifts.  Those of you with planets in Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio are especially urged to heed the call of Mars in Aquarius.

Be open to so-called wild thoughts that enter your mind.  Many useful insights are never used or acknowledged because we are not tuned into those “sudden insights.”  Be warned though, you don’t need to act on everything that comes into your mind.  Some restraint and common sense is needed.  Mars in Aquarius is wonderful for those of you who are inventors of any kind.

September 13 – Mercury opposes Neptune at 14 degrees Virgo/Pisces.  Your thinking could be fuzzy, overly idealistic and illogical at this time.  Best to shelve discussion and/or dissection of weighty issues and save them until another day.

September 15-21 – Mars square Uranus at 2 degrees Aquarius/Taurus.

This is more of the crazy energy that we have been dealing with for months.  Hang in there, watch your temper and pay attention when driving.  This too shall pass.  A big positive is that you may get a second wind and/or a burst of energy that allows you to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time.  Marvelous, startling ideas may pop in your head from an unknown well of inspiration.

The edgy Mars/Uranus square is lightened by:  Mercury sextile Jupiter at 19 degrees Virgo/Scorpio; Mercury trine Pluto at 19 degrees Virgo/Capricorn; and Jupiter sextile Pluto at 19 degrees Scorpio/Capricorn.  Communication and classes of all kinds are favored.  Jupiter sextile Pluto is excellent for digging out the truth.

Venus square the lunar nodes at 4 degrees Scorpio/Leo/Aquarius will bring back shades of the energy from the lunar eclipse of July 27, 2018.  If you have unresolved issues from that time period, you may find resolution now.

September 24 – Full Moon at 1 degree Aries/Libra.  At the time of the full Moon, the Moon is conjunct Chiron and the Sun opposes Chiron.  Both of the lights are square Saturn.  This is an excellent time to let go of those things that are causing you hurt.  Saturn will help you sort out reality from wishful thinking so you can fix what is broken and in need of repair.  Conflicts around “me versus you” will be especially on the radar.  The Aries full Moon will be felt the strongest if you have planets or points in the early degrees of the cardinal signs and the late degrees of mutable signs.

September 26 through the year 2021 – Pluto and Uranus form a biseptile aspect.  The biseptile aspect is considered a minor aspect, however it can be very powerful.  It brings in an overlay of fate and even, some would say, contact from other dimensions. Things may happen that are unpredictable; yet such happenings may have a profound effect on your psyche and spirituality.  Astrologer Tom Delay calls this aspect the “forks in the road of destiny.”  It may explain those things that happen over the next three years that have no known reason for happening and other downright “weird” happenings.
