Transformation is the theme for the month of October due to several outer planet transits and Jupiter’s opposition to Uranus.
So far it has not been easy.
The month opened with a Jupiter/Uranus opposition in Libra/Aries. That opposition energy is one of breakthroughs, revolutions, chaos, opportunity, decisions that need to be made, breakdowns, over extension, and downright unpredictable events.
I wrote the above a day before the horrific Las Vegas shooting, I was, and till am, stunned thinking about how those energies have played out. I tried over and over to finish this newsletter and just couldn’t find the words.
Now, several days later, I have managed to find a little bit of perspective. My prayers go out to everyone affected by the heart rendering news stories of the last several weeks. The events in Las Vegas were another scar on our human psyche and now, more than ever, we each need to get in touch with our humanity. Our neighbors, whether they live next door or a continent away, are truly a part of us.
Unfortunately, we all know the dark, chilling side of these planetary aspects, but on a more positive note, this transit can free us from restrictions and limitations and bring a much-needed shift. That shift can bring career opportunities, beneficial lifestyle and relationship changes and foster new belief patterns. This is especially true for those who have planets around 27 degrees of the cardinal signs (Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn).
Pluto stationed direct on September 28 at 16 degrees Capricorn. Pluto, the planet of transformation, is then activated by several planets transiting the late degrees of Libra and the early to mid degrees of Scorpio (Scorpio is ruled by Pluto):

We are being challenged (square) to examine our thoughts (Mercury) and ideas and to present our authentic self to the world (Sun). “What do I really stand for?” “Am I expressing that part of myself so others can see me/it?”
Jupiter in Scorpio begins a one-year transit urging us to answer the question, “How have I underestimated myself?” Look to the house(s) in your birth chart with Scorpio on the cusp to see where you are under estimating yourself.
Venus enters Libra on October 14 adding a focus on relationships. We will all be asking questions such as: “Who am I in relation to others?” “How much should I give to please others, while still being true to myself?” and “Am I being disloyal to you when I take time for myself?” These are all emotionally difficult questions that will be triggered over and over during Venus’ movement through Libra until November 7, when it enters Scorpio.
Finally, on October 17 Mercury enters Scorpio, followed by the Sun and Mars on October 22nd. Mercury in Scorpio is about initiating those difficult, soul baring conversations that we all hate. The Sun and Mars in Scorpio are about taking back our power without anger, but with intention and purpose.
The Jupiter/Uranus opposition cracked our shell and opened our hearts to see our self and others in a new light. With the onslaught of news regarding earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, volcanoes, fires and senseless shootings we can no longer ignore the suffering around us. Pluto (ruling the masses) going direct somehow made the world smaller. After such a profound shakeup we somehow know that things will never be the same. It is our job to transform ourselves to understand and positively use these powerful energies. Some of the ways we can do this are:
- Be willing to move out of our comfort zone,
- Be willing to call a spade a spade and dare to expose the corruption and deterioration that lingers behind a lovely facade,
- Be willing to face reality (Saturn) without moving too far into paranoia (Pluto) and anger (Mars),
- Celebrate the positive and uplifting (Jupiter) elements that are hidden like a sparkling diamond in the dross and destruction,
- Let the disruption (Uranus) shake us up enough to be true to ourselves and our beliefs, and finally,
- Ground ourselves so we stand like a tall oak tree that sways and bends in the shifting winds, but does not break.
As a Libra, some of those ways are difficult for me, so I will be working alongside everyone else in moving into a more powerful way of being.
These are challenging times, but for every challenge and heartbreak there is always a small glimmer of hope and a seed to transform ourselves and the world piece by little piece. Transformation (Pluto), belief and optimism (Jupiter) are the key.
