Astrology Transits April 2023 – Evaluate and Release

Get into the habit of asking yourself: Does this support the life I am trying to create? If not, release it. — Sylvester McNutt III

The big astrological news for April 2023 is the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse at 29 Degrees Aries and/or zero Degrees Taurus. This is a very unusual eclipse because it starts out at 29 degrees of Aries and then quickly moves to a Taurus solar eclipse at zero degrees Taurus. The sign of Aries is about beginnings, action and taking initiative. The sign of Taurus is about our values, our money and our security.

New Moons and solar eclipses are always about letting go of something to move into something new. It is abundantly clear that this eclipse is about re-evaluating what you own, whether emotions, ideas or material goods, and then releasing what does not serve your highest good.

April 2023 transits bring a somewhat easier month with only a few challenging aspects (such as squares) and lots of sextiles. Squares are challenging because they push us to change or to act. This is usually a good thing, but due to our human aversion to change, it can seem threatening.

Sextiles are easy energy because both planets work together to bring a sense of ease and flow. Because sextiles are easy, it is important to consciously use the energy, or it will simply dissipate without being of benefit.

April 3: Mercury Enters Taurus and Squares Pluto at 0 Degrees Taurus/Aquarius. Our speech and thought patterns become more measured and thoughtful while Mercury is in Taurus. Mercury square Pluto for a day adds a certain intensity and possibly passive/aggressive thoughts and actions.

April 5: Mercury Sextile Saturn at 3 Degrees Taurus/Pisces.

Sun Conjunct Chiron at 15 Degrees Aries. Mercury sextile Saturn brings rational and logical thinking, concentration and focus. Sun conjunct Chiron promotes a renewed sense of purpose. Use this time to set your intentions and add action after the Libra Full Moon tomorrow.

April 6: Libra Full Moon at 16 Degrees Libra/Aries. The Libra Full Moon emphasizes relationships. The opposing Sun in Aries conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer, opens your eyes to your relationship wounds. Use this time to understand how past relationships are affecting you. It is especially important to ask yourself whether your wounds are keeping you from opening fully to your current or potential relationships. The Libra Moon in opposition to the Aries Sun calls for evaluating your relationship for fairness (Libra). Are you giving too much to your relationships or are you taking too much from the other person. If either is true, now is the time to work out a more equitable arrangement.

April 7: Venus Sextile Neptune at 25 Degrees Taurus/Pisces. Indulge yourself with a lovely scented bubble bath or take a mini-escape of your choice. Dig in the dirt and plant some flowers if it’s warm enough in your area. Best of all, pretend its Valentine’s Day and let those you love know how much you care.

April 8:  Mercury Sextile Mars at 6 Degrees Taurus/Cancer. Ideas, mental alertness and decisiveness combine to make this a good time to figure out and implement practical solutions to vexing issues.

April 11: Venus Enters Gemini and Trines Pluto at 0 Degrees Gemini/Aquarius. Venus in Gemini until May 7 benefits money making ideas. Attend a mind-opening lecture that stretches your mind and shakes up your concepts. Stimulating conversations are especially enjoyable at this time, though Venus trine Pluto from April 10 through 12 may bring too much intensity to such conversations. Express yourself, but don’t belabor your point.

Sun Conjunct Jupiter at 21 Degrees Aries. Sun conjunct Jupiter is a wonderful, optimistic and expansive energy. Think big and act accordingly — but stay realistic.

April 14:  Venus Square Saturn at 4 Degrees Gemini/Pisces. Use Venus square Saturn to reassess your finances and relationships. Saturn brings the ability to see through the cold, hard lens of reality, while Venus softens your view. Similarly, Saturn helps you see the flaws in your monetary strategy, while Venus helps you make adjustments without fear.

April 20: New Moon Hybrid Solar Eclipse at 29 Degrees Aries or 0 Degrees Taurus.  This New Moon Solar Eclipse straddles the line between Aries and Taurus. All eclipses bring change. The Aries/Libra axis speaks to relationship issues. You may need to negotiate (Libra) new parameters around any thorny relationship issues. The Taurus/Scorpio axis speaks to a needed transformation around deep life values, security and money.

The last degree of a sign means that something has reached its apex. Its time to use what you have learned, finish something, and release the old. The first degree of a sign is about starting a new journey forward. Look to the houses in your birth chart where the eclipse falls to determine where you should make changes.

This solar eclipse will be felt most strongly by those with the Sun, ascendant, descendant, midheaven, or significant planets in late degrees of Aries, Cancer, Capricorn, Libra; and also, those with the sun or significant points or planets in early degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

April 20: Sun Enters Taurus and Squares Pluto at 0 Degrees Taurus/Aquarius. Sun in Taurus brings our attention to beauty in nature and your money and security needs. Sun square Pluto is about honoring and expressing your power, without becoming controlling and/or aggressive. This is especially true for those with early degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

April 23: Mercury turns Retrograde. Mercury Sextile Mars at 15 Degrees Taurus/Cancer. Mercury sextile Mars brings mental alertness, and a sharp and decisive mind. Mercury retrograde until May 16 aids in using this mental spark to revisit past actions and to make changes where needed.

April 25: Sun Sextile Saturn at 4 Degrees Taurus/Pisces. Venus Sextile Chiron at 16 Degrees Gemini/Aries. Use Sun sextile Saturn to bring your dreams (Pisces) to reality (Saturn). Venus sextile Chiron aids in healing old wounds that keep you from manifesting your dreams.

April 27: Mars Square Chiron at 17 Degrees Cancer/Aries. Mars square Chiron is the universe holding a big sign saying: “It’s time to let go of old hurts and fears and to just take action!”

April 29: Mars Sextile Uranus at 18 Degrees Cancer/Taurus. Mars sextile Uranus is a “light bulb” aspect. Use innovative and unusual methods to break through obstacles.
