Astrology Transits November 2017

Transformation literally means going beyond your form. – Wayne Dyer

The following image is a metaphor for transformation success and determination to succeed.  Jupiter in Scorpio urges us to see where we are underestimating ourselves.

The strong Scorpio/Taurus emphasis this month continues the theme around determining your values and transforming those things that are outworn or detrimental into something that furthers your highest good.

Hold on to your Hats!  The month of November begins with several volatile, emotional and challenging aspects.

November 1, Mars at the midpoint of Saturn and Pluto.  We need to be careful of this one as it carries a lot of energy.  Watch for overly assertive, or even aggressive, actions and belligerent attitudes from others.  You will also be affected, so watch your own attitude.

Because Saturn is the planet of limitation be especially wary of an attitude of “I don’t have” versus those who are perceived as “having it all.”  This will be exponentially amplified by the Taurus full Moon on November 4.

Pray that our world leaders do not over react to this challenging energy.  This configuration is superb for inner transformative work so use it to go inside and to promote peace rather than to engage with others in spats or confrontations.

November 1, Saturn at 24 degrees Sagittarius Trine Uranus at 25 degrees Aries. This trine is a repeat of the December 2016 energy.  It will be felt most strongly by those with planets around 25 degrees of the fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius).

Saturn and Uranus are very different planets.  Saturn is the cautious, careful taskmaster, while Uranus is the innovative, freedom loving revolutionary.  You may feel this as a crazy urge for a breakout, breakthrough or freedom from something or someone.  At the same time, Saturn will be urging you to be careful and fearful and cautions, “oh, by the way, what will the neighbors think?”  This energy has hovered around us all year but it is once again super strong.

November 4, Full Moon at 11:59 Taurus.  Because this moon is in perigee (meaning its closest proximity to the Earth), it will appear extra large and luminous in the night sky.  It will exert a stronger than normal pull on the tides, the earth’s tectonic plates (earth rumblings and/or earthquakes) and our moods.

Beware of creating emotional drama, particularly regarding matters related to values, money and possessions.  Possessiveness, suspicion and jealousy could rear their ugly heads.  This too shall pass, so it’s best not to get caught up in the melodrama.

Those with planets around 9 to 13 degrees of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius will be most affected by this dramatic full Moon.  Be aware that, because of the fixed nature of these signs, that you could become too entrenched in a certain way of thinking.  Consistent with the theme of transformation, you might want to consider letting go of something that you have held onto for dear life.  It might be gut wrenching, but can allow an abundance of new, beneficial energy (Jupiter in Scorpio) to come in.

November 1 through 4, Venus in Libra is sextile Saturn in Sagittarius and opposes Uranus in Aries.  There is an urge to make peace and to compromise.  However, such efforts can be thwarted by the Saturn/Uranus dynamic.

November 2-4, Mercury in Scorpio inconjunct Uranus in Aries.  An inconjunct feels like a never-ending source of irritation.  Not a fun feeling.  Look for lots of crazy (Uranus) talk (Mercury) with no meeting of the minds and little resolution.  Disruptions in computer or electronic networks could also occur.

November 11-14, Venus Conjunct Jupiter at 5 degrees Scorpio.  Questions regarding love, value and your personal set of values are more easily answered during this time period.  Alternatively, you may find yourself questioning your values around love during this time.

November 13, Mercury Square Neptune at 11 Degrees Sagittarius/Pisces.  Try to refrain from making decisions during this time.  You may be a little too idealistic and not quite as clearly focused as usual. Delay signing important papers if possible as confusion and deception are in the air.
I am now doing readings that look at your year ahead, transits, solar arc directions and progressions at a 15% discount through the end of the year.  These readings make great Christmas gifts!  Contact me at

Mercury is sextile Mars on November 16.  Your mind is clear but your attention span may be short.

November 18 and 19, New Moon at 26 degrees Scorpio and Mars square Pluto at 17 degrees Libra/Capricorn.  This is another time of volatility, aggression and conflict with a high possibility of some kind of power struggles.  Look to the houses in your chart with Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo to determine how it will affect you.

On the positive side, this is a great time to begin something new so long as you don’t sabotage yourself through overly aggressive actions.

November 22, Neptune turns direct at 12 degrees Pisces. If Neptune has been transiting your 1st or 6th house, you may feel more energetic and nagging health problems could begin to clear up.

The month ends with Mercury conjunct Saturn at 27 degrees Sagittarius.  Use this time to finalize any concrete plans before Mercury turns retrograde on December 2nd.

Astrology Transits October 2017 – Transformation

Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it is a beautiful place. — Ian S. Thomas

Transformation is the theme for the month of October due to several outer planet transits and Jupiter’s opposition to Uranus.

So far it has not been easy.

The month opened with a Jupiter/Uranus opposition in Libra/Aries. That opposition energy is one of breakthroughs, revolutions, chaos, opportunity, decisions that need to be made, breakdowns, over extension, and downright unpredictable events.

I wrote the above a day before the horrific Las Vegas shooting, I was, and till am, stunned thinking about how those energies have played out.  I tried over and over to finish this newsletter and just couldn’t find the words.

Now, several days later, I have managed to find a little bit of perspective.  My prayers go out to everyone affected by the heart rendering news stories of the last several weeks.  The events in Las Vegas were another scar on our human psyche and now, more than ever, we each need to get in touch with our humanity.  Our neighbors, whether they live next door or a continent away, are truly a part of us.

Unfortunately, we all know the dark, chilling side of these planetary aspects, but on a more positive note, this transit can free us from restrictions and limitations and bring a much-needed shift.  That shift can bring career opportunities, beneficial lifestyle and relationship changes and foster new belief patterns.  This is especially true for those who have planets around 27 degrees of the cardinal signs (Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn).

Pluto stationed direct on September 28 at 16 degrees Capricorn. Pluto, the planet of transformation, is then activated by several planets transiting the late degrees of Libra and the early to mid degrees of Scorpio (Scorpio is ruled by Pluto):

Sun and Mercury squares Pluto on October 9
Jupiter enters Scorpio on October 9

We are being challenged (square) to examine our thoughts (Mercury) and ideas and to present our authentic self to the world (Sun).  “What do I really stand for?”  “Am I expressing that part of myself so others can see me/it?”

Jupiter in Scorpio begins a one-year transit urging us to answer the question, “How have I underestimated myself?”  Look to the house(s) in your birth chart with Scorpio on the cusp to see where you are under estimating yourself.

Venus enters Libra on October 14 adding a focus on relationships. We will all be asking questions such as: “Who am I in relation to others?”  “How much should I give to please others, while still being true to myself?” and “Am I being disloyal to you when I take time for myself?”  These are all emotionally difficult questions that will be triggered over and over during Venus’ movement through Libra until November 7, when it enters Scorpio.

Finally, on October 17 Mercury enters Scorpio, followed by the Sun and Mars on October 22nd.  Mercury in Scorpio is about initiating those difficult, soul baring conversations that we all hate.  The Sun and Mars in Scorpio are about taking back our power without anger, but with intention and purpose.

The Jupiter/Uranus opposition cracked our shell and opened our hearts to see our self and others in a new light.  With the onslaught of news regarding earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, volcanoes, fires and senseless shootings we can no longer ignore the suffering around us.  Pluto (ruling the masses) going direct somehow made the world smaller.  After such a profound shakeup we somehow know that things will never be the same.  It is our job to transform ourselves to understand and positively use these powerful energies.  Some of the ways we can do this are:

  • Be willing to move out of our comfort zone,
  • Be willing to call a spade a spade and dare to expose the corruption and deterioration that lingers behind a lovely facade,
  • Be willing to face reality (Saturn) without moving too far into paranoia (Pluto) and anger (Mars),
  • Celebrate the positive and uplifting (Jupiter) elements that are hidden like a sparkling diamond in the dross and destruction,
  • Let the disruption (Uranus) shake us up enough to be true to ourselves and our beliefs, and finally,
  • Ground ourselves so we stand like a tall oak tree that sways and bends in the shifting winds, but does not break.

As a Libra, some of those ways are difficult for me, so I will be working alongside everyone else in moving into a more powerful way of being.

These are challenging times, but for every challenge and heartbreak there is always a small glimmer of hope and a seed to transform ourselves and the world piece by little piece.  Transformation (Pluto), belief and optimism (Jupiter) are the key.

Astrology Transits September 2017 – Calm after Chaos

Many a calm river begins as a turbulent waterfall, yet none hurtles and foams all the way to the sea.— Mikhail Lermontov

The aftermath of eclipse “season” has left many of us a little shaken, confused, energized, emotional, worried and antsy — you name it and chances are most of us have felt it. It sometimes felt like a runaway train or a trip down a dark tunnel. Because retrograde Mercury and Mars were in the planetary picture we also had to cope with mixed, missed messages, misplaced anger and a generally fiery atmosphere.

I would like to say that all that has changed, but it hasn’t completely — yet. The first half of September reenacts much of the eclipse energy:

Retrograde Mercury Conjunct Mars Trine Uranus very close to the eclipse degree. The erratic, crazy (Uranus) overheated (Mars) energy that we dealt with all summer continues with a dose of fate thrown in (North Node) along with a smidgen of garbled communication (Retrograde Mercury).

Because Mercury is retrograding (back toward 29 degrees Leo) and Mars is moving forward (toward the eclipse degree), they were conjunct at the eclipse degree of 28 Leo, re-activating the energy of the solar eclipse. Any issues brought about by the eclipse could reappear until after the second week in September.

Be aware of this energy over the next couple of weeks. Angry words over mistaken circumstances are a definite possibility, as are unexplained, unexpected surprises that come from out of the blue possibly causing a crisis situation.

Jupiter in Libra Trine Uranus in Aries. When the planet of truth (Jupiter) meets the planet of freedom (Uranus) we are apt to hear some pretty interesting stories from the news media. As chaotic as this energy can be, its positive side is to bring new openings of all kinds. We are feeling more in the mood to start things and to take a chance. As I mentioned in previous newsletters, this can be beneficial if you exercise a little Saturn caution. The Sun in Virgo will assist you in doing your due diligence around any risky ventures or impetuous decisions.

Mercury Stationed Direct at 28 degrees Leo on September 3. We have just experienced one of the most striking Mercury retrograde periods ever because of Mercury’s retrograde over transiting Mars at the 28 degrees Leo eclipse degree. Mercury retraces its path and enters Virgo once again on September 9.

Mars Enters Virgo on September 5. I expect that we will all feel the energy shift at that time. The calm, earthy Virgo energy tones down the overheated fire emphasis that we felt all summer. The energy becomes calmer and smoother and we are not so prone to making unwise, emotional decisions. Use the month of September to make plans and develop strategies for moving forward with any ideas for new beginnings that were spawned by the solar eclipse.

Venus Conjunct the Eclipse degree of 28 Leo on September 18. Relationship issues are brought to light. We are challenged to repair or replace those relationships that are no longer working. Venus in Leo shouts from the house tops: “What do you want in a relationship.” “Are you getting it?”

The Sun Enters Libra on September 22 at the Autumn Equinox, where it is joined by Mercury on September 30. Take time to be quiet and to fully feel the waves of balance moving around and through you. After the long, hot summer this is an opportune time to center yourself to heal from the storms of life.

On September 30 Pluto Stations Direct at 16 Degrees Capricorn Trine Mars at 16 Degrees Virgo. Watch for news around the government and big business to take center stage. It could get interesting in the US with budget discussions on the table. Lots of control issues and anger accompany this one.

On a personal level, this is a cue to move forward in your quest for transformation. Since Pluto, the planet of transformation went retrograde on April 20, 2016, lots of unseen, unknown ideas, thoughts and plans were taking place in your subconscious. When Pluto turns direct you will begin to see your way forward to manifest some of those ideas in a concrete and visible way. Pluto works underground and hidden so we usually don’t understand the “behind-the scenes” shift it is quietly bringing about it our lives. Pluto is a very slow mover so it is a long-term proposition.

Venus enters Virgo on August 30. With the Sun already in Libra, the sign of relationships, Venus in Virgo is ushering in a time when our closest relationships are in focus. Once again it is all about “What do you want in a relationship.” “Are you getting it?” “How can I make it better?”

Let’s all pat ourselves on the back for making it through the intense summer of 2017!

Astrology Transits August 2017

“When we look up, it widens our horizons. we see what a little speck we are in the universe, so insignificant, and we all take ourselves so seriously, but in the sky, there are no boundaries. No differences of caste or religion or race.” ― Julia Gregson, East of the Sun

Lunar Eclipse

Two eclipses and the change into retrograde motion of both Mercury and Uranus highlight a month of awe-inspiring heavenly movement.

Uranus stationed retrograde on August 2 at 28 degrees Aries and finishes its retrograde on January 2, 2018 at 24 degrees Aries.  Planetary effects become stronger during their retrograde period because the energy is more concentrated.  It is significant that Uranus begins its retrograde exactly trine to the solar eclipse in Leo on August 21 at 28 degrees Leo.

Look for upsets of all kinds, whether perceived as “good” or “bad.”  Insights and creative ideas are overflowing and abundant.  In a word, “expect the unexpected!”

Jupiter in Libra forms an exact square with Pluto in Capricorn on August 4.  Though the square is exact on August 4th and is extra strong, this aspect will be with us until 2020.  It will be felt more at some times than others.  Both Jupiter and Pluto are big players in reshaping our reality.

When the planet of optimism (Jupiter) forms a challenging aspect to the planet of transformation (Pluto) there is a uptick in our motivations and ambitions, along with a greater chance of running into resistance from others.  You might find that people are in your face much more than usual. This square provides an excellent time to repair, refurbish and rebuild all kinds of things.

Pluto gives you the ability to stand up for what you believe is right, but can also make you too set in your ways when it comes to your beliefs.  Because of this, legal conflicts (Jupiter) can explode and/or escalate.  Think before you act.  Watch for new and expanding social consciousness platforms to manifest during this aspect.  Jupiter likes to see the bright side, while Pluto wants to show the dark underbelly.  It should be interesting!

The Lunar eclipse at 15 degrees Aquarius on August 7 begins the show.  In general, the Moon in Aquarius is a time to allow startling insights and inventive thoughts to enter your mind without censure.  It is a time to lighten the load mentally, physically and spiritually.  Fiery, action-oriented Mars is conjunct the Sun and in opposition to the Moon on the eclipse date.

Mercury retrograde begins on August 12 at 11 degrees Virgo.  It completes its retrograde motion on September 5 when it will station direct at 28 degrees Leo.  Mercury turns direct right on the solar eclipse degree addling a fated, karmic quality that makes this Mercury retrograde uncommonly important.  Your efforts to redo, rework, repair, heal and to let go of outworn/outgrown ideas, objects and people are especially significant during the month of August.

US total solar eclipse on August 21 at 28 degrees Leo.

Use the time between the lunar and solar eclipse to tune into your higher self to take advantage of this special time when the mystic veils are parted. You may find that you are able to contact divine guidance as never before.

The planetary picture for this eclipse is:
  • Sun and Moon conjunct
  • Sun and Moon trine Uranus
  • Sun and Moon conjunct Regulus, the fixed Star of Royalty
  • Ascendant trine the Part of Fortune
  • Mars Sextile Jupiter and Trine Uranus
  • Jupiter trine Saturn
  • Jupiter square Pluto

Some possible influences are:

  • High creativity
  • Important insights
  • Being given leadership roles
  • Being removed from leadership roles
  • High accomplishment, but with opposition from others
  • Unexpected events both “good” and “bad”
  • Forward movement around business, beginning to manifest after September 15.

Events that happened around May 9 and the end of May 2017 may have foreshadowed the events of this solar eclipse. Something that was put in place around that time could manifest around the time of the eclipse though the energy often does not completely manifest until later.

Eclipses act as wild cards so there is always an element of the unknown. The eclipse effect will vary considerably depending on your own birth chart. It will primarily affect those with the Sun, Moon or planets in the signs of Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus. Those with planets or angles in the late degrees of Leo/Aquarius will be affected most strongly.

Saturn turns direct on August 26 trine the North Node. I can almost hear the collective sigh of relief. Saturn retrograde has delayed key projects from moving forward and has brought a feeling of tiredness and even depression.

With the eclipses ushering in a new dynamic and the great task master (Saturn) turning direct, I expect the energy to noticeably change by September 15.
